Dr Walker was an excellent professer. He gave his students a reson to go to class. Dr Walker belived in fighing Cultural hegemony and becoming part of a political process. Dr Walker wanted students to think on there own no matter there opinion and wanted students to be able analyize the information in historical context. Dr Walker will be missed.

I did struggle in this course--the readings were tricky and the exams challenging--but it felt very good to do so. College is, after all, about responsibility, and that (along with respect and encouragement) is what Dr. Walker gave all semester. If you don't want to work, stay away from this class..and maybe college, too.

This has been the most refreshing experience I have had at Penn Tech. I was treated as an adult, I was taught with a higher level--sophisticated yet not impossible--vocabulary, and I did not pay a price for any of my views. Fabulous course, fabulous professor.

First couple of weeks of his class were hell to me. I thought he was just a tool who likes to use big word. I then started to pay attention and do the work. I then realized that this man is brilliant and that he is the only professor i've had that I myself actually wanted to go to his class to learn. He's also the snappiest dresser at this school

Great professor!!! He really knows what he's doing and he'll help you if you need it. Make sure you read the text though and take notes. He makes you work for your grade. He makes class fun and is there when you need him.

I'm glad I stayed in this class, too. It's work, but I'm pleased that I stuck with it and proved myself. The key is to make good use of Dr. Walker's knowledge & time. Ask him about the reading, prepare outlines for the exam and talk with him about them. If you're serious about the class, he'll be serious about helping you succeed in it.

1/2 way through the course, and I'm so glad I took it. He can intimidate-that's only because he's intelligent, articulate, & won't be made to "dumb down" his classes. I so respect him for that. He's never pompous about what he knows, just excited to share it & have students understand and interpret it for their lives--THAT's the degree that works.

Of the 2 people who are frustrated in his classes, I say they're afraid to accept responsibility for their experience. He gives the methods & the knowledge & says "I leave it in your capable hands." To me, that's respect, & few faculty show it. Those 2 students who are made nervous by that--he'll lead them so kindly through course (& life) themes.

Wise & considerate without peer, he sparks new ideas & gives you an energy boost simultaneously. His intellectual & financial support of the debate team means that without him it wouldn't exist. Because of him, challenging ivy leaguers is not as daunting as it first appears. Thanks Dr. Walker-I now think about the world beyond what̢۪s in it for me.

Some of us from his govt class went to that Ivy lecture, too. It was his usual incredible performance-intelligence of Einstein and delivery of George Carlin. Afterward he was swamped by faculty but noticed us and came right over, humbly thrilled that we would come to see him. We all thought but were afraid to ask: what'll we do if he does leave?

There's never any "beans and molasses" from this gentleman! Just open, candid lecture and discussion guided by a wide variety of readings and films rather than the personality-driven gossip fests that most PCT classes are. That's not to say Dr. Walker's classes are boring--they're never anything less than animated--but they're refreshingly mature.

I don't know if he is leaving, but I do know that he gave an impressive lecture at a top school in Philly last week. Whether he stays or goes, everyone should make him part of their PCT repertoire. He is head and shoulders above the crowd; thoughtful, provocative, and fair, his main priority is student welfare and intellectual development.

Dr. Walker is the hidden gem of Penn College. Anyone who does not take a course with him is missing the chance to learn from a person with intellect that knows no bounds, helpfulness without limit, and wit that rivals the Bard.

Although I am a second year student, I feel like I am taking my first actual college class--and it feels good! For once I am not treated like a child (or referred to as a "kid" as other faculty do), and given adult reading and discussion responsibilities. Walker breaks this place out of its "techie" mode, and we are the better for it.

He pokes fun at the pretense of college in its retail-oriented form, allowing students to discover the moods and trends of practical education. Take him before he trades this place for another. If you're open and attentive, he is the ultimate adventure.
