Really cool topics. O'Connor's funny and smart, and open to your ideas. He looks like he's having a lot of fun.

Comment:
He has little respect for the philosophical capabilities of his students, and loves to hear himself talk. This leads to lectures with no open discussion, as O'Conner would rather waste time smack-talking other philosophers than call on students with questions and counterpoints. His exams consist of regurgitating arguments instead of philosophizing.

Prof. O'Conner was my favorite instructor this term. Very smart, and usually pretty entertaining. The readings could be very hard to digest, but he tells you everything you need to know in lecture, and you can download his powerpoints. He also responds promptly to email and clearly answers questions.

Not easy to take it all in, but the ideas were really interesting, most of the time. Aristotle was fun, Kant was rough. If you go to class, the powerpoints lay everything out clearly. Tim is very smart, and he's also funny.

Tim is a great guy and means well, but his lectures are very boring and he rambles on far too often. The AIs try to salvage lecture material in discussion but it doesn't always work out. He quizzes over the minute part of boring reading material.

Interesting material. You get what you need from lectures - what's not covered in class is not on the exam.

The readings aren't necessary, as long as you go to class take notes and fill out the study guides its a pretty easy class.

Incredibly energetic and passionate about the material. Wants you to succeed. This was easily the most fun and mind-blowing class I have had at IU. Warning: it's not easy! Go to office hours, talk to him after class. He's very approachable and seems to live for talking about philosophy. I hope to take him again before I graduate.

You can tell that he's a really really nice guy. He's just not meant to teach an introductory class. He goes off rambling in lectures and it is very hard to pay attention. He does make it possible to do well with study guides and office hours. Overall if you are a business major like me, then I don't think you will like the class.

This guy just won't stop rambling. Totally just thinks out loud in his PhD jargon. Extremely hard to understand, and grades pretty harshly for a freshman topics course. Not recommended. I did ok only because the AI, Allen Gehring, got me through it.

His students run his class, not him. He lets them ramble and has no control over his own class. Also, seems to be a self-hating closet case.

His class was very challenging and demanding, and i studied for a whole week and still got a C- on a test. He's very nice, so go to office hours & he'll remember that when it comes to grade time.

Let's students that have wild theories with no backing ramble on. Also, has pop quizzes to punish students that don't read books that have nothing to do with the tests. Not a hard professor if you keep up with the material. Does not seem to value students' time... only his own.

I took medieval philosophy with him. He's very energetic and makes it fun. You should read the material outside of class and he's more than willing to help. Warning: Professor O' Connor isn't priivy about human nature and the brain - if you aren't familiar with science you'll actually believe some the arguments you go over are true. They aren't.
