I took this as an online class and the tests are in the testing center so that made this class more difficult. He doesn't tell you what to study for but does give you the essay questions. Also, there is one research paper, one book report, and one short paper as well.

Great Prof. Knows his stuff and then some. Outside of class he's kind of introverted, but as soon as he takes to the lecture BAM he's popping on all cylinders. Very interesting guy. Some may feel he's boring, but I liked him. GO TO CLASS! If you don't you'll miss hunks of material. Test's come straight from the lectures. Recomended.

I did not take a face-to-face class with Spielman but I felt like there was very little guidance in the TC class. The weekly homework assignments / discussions took some time yet they were only ever worth 4 points so it did absolutely nothing for your grade if you did not do well on tests.. which were really difficult & unpredictable!

Online. VERY time consuming. Lots of work due each week. 2 novels, 1 research paper, and one online group project in addition to all other work equals two thumbs down. Do not recommend. Tests difficult, content unpredictable, comp final with no clue as to what to study for. Most of class dropped by end of semester. Must be able to self-teach.

I really enjoyed this class. Pay attention and take good notes and you will do fine. Tells you exactly what he expects and you better follow it. Very helpful teacher and makes history interesting. Tests are challenging.

I took this class online & hated it! This teacher does not communicate effectively at all, and his tests have nothing to do with what we discuss each week. Unless you are really strong in history..i would NOT recommend taking this class!!!

He expects alot out of his students, but overall is a very fair teacher. He is helpful and responds quickly to any questions or concerns. I truly enjoy his humor and if you take good notes in class and study the exam guides, you should do well in his class.

Whoever says low bout Spielman-remember that this is College. He is TOO good for a college. If you get a MATH professor as helpful as him, no one will fail at college level. Don't blame the teacher if you don't do your part. I have hated History all my life but he keeps me going.If you think low of professors, why attend college in the first place?

I had problems with him. Very good teacher if you can remember things from his study guides, but I'm horrible with remembering things, so I had a hard time in his class. He's a fair grader though. Very interesting to listen to as well, but I still had a hard time with the tests, but I kept getting confused with whom was who on the test.
