Professor Tomlinson is a great professor and writer. He really helps you foster your writing, and I already feel like a better writer. Grade is based on three papers, a semester-long journal you keep, and participation. He also really wants the class to interact with each other and get close. Kinda a hard grader, but still a great person.

Timmy T is THE MAN. Class discussions are always so interesting and he really cares about what you have to say. Watch movies for homework. He's so insightful and really gives great feedback. Work hard at your 2 papers and he'll give you a fair grade. Best class I took so far!

He's a nice guy. He's sometimes unclear about assignments but he usually replies to emails quickly. Class is fun if the students talk a lot. Don't get off task or he'll destroy you. Workload is fair for a writing class.

Prof. Tomlinson's class will help elevate your writing. If you want to improve, you will have to work for it. GET READY TO WRITE! We had to write weekly journal entries, and we had three big papers. He gives great feedback and cares about your growth as a writer. His class is worth taking.

Interesting guy with hot takes on plenty of different subjects. Very particular about sentence structure and word choice. If he likes you and you put in the work, you'll be fine.

Tim is awesome. His LS Writing II course was all about films--we watched a bunch and then talked about them. Discussions are great, and he'll try and bring everyone into the convo. Be sure to come to class and post on forums. Especially if you're a good writer, he'll adore you and give you a good grade too.

Tim is great! He's such an interesting and intelligent person. He talks a lot but you'll learn a lot from him. You must go to his class. He loves students who participate in class. Do the readings and put a lot of effort into his papers because he's a tough grader. Sometimes he's not very clear about his assignments so ask him to clarify.

I did fine but it was far more work than necessary and more than any other Writing class I've heardabout a dozen and a half mini papers (750 words), 500 word journals a week (just annoying), and reading. Like four or five of the papers you have to go to some place: the final paper is picking somewhere in NYC and going there three separate times.

Tomlinson is intellectual, deep, and inspiring. He engages deep talks in class and selects relatively interesting readings to discuss. My issue with him is that he gives very general and open guidelines for assignments, making them unclear and very set up for failure. Be prepared to write a lot, and spend a lot of time in the E-Lab watching films.

DO NOT TAKE TIM. He's not a good professor at all. Really bad communication- he does not tell you what he wants or how he grades. He cancels class to make you watch three hour long horrible movies that make zero sense then make you write an essay about it. Super rude and not understanding about real life circumstances at all.

Tomlinson is a HARD grader- don't expect to BS anything in his class. He analyzes every little thing- from the class discussions, to the specific structure of ONE sentence in an essay, to every single source you use in your paper. But what he has done has helped my writing more than any professor I've ever had. Just prepare to work for it.

Already can't write much insightful things just out of novels or articles, literature things like that, Now you wanna write bout music?! No way. He got journals for you everyday and graded us really tough. Find classes with ordinary content such as reading novels aight? He is too insightful to give you nice grades.

Good professor but REALLY TOUGH grader. A lot of papers and assignments. About 10 essays while also having to write a mandatory journal. Wrote the most ever written. If you like writing this is the class for you. If you want to improve your writing this is not the class for you. Doesnt give very good feedback if he even has a chance to get to you.

Amazing professor. Very clear on topics and class materials. Tomlinson is funny and witty, keep you updated on current topics and issues. Great guy. Attendance and class participation are crucial. He is willing to help you with everything. Not too much work, but a lot of accumulative small works. Take him!

This man knows what he's doing. Easily my favorite professor. He's really invested in your success as a writer in and outside the classroom, but you need to be just as invested in your writing career to value his class. Do yourself a favor: take Tomlinson's class if you're serious about your writing and want to reach your fullest potential.
