The class was really hard, especially for someone who is not a philosophy major. LOTS of reading, daily quizzes, and pretty lecture heavy and you really have to pay attention to the lectures. However, the professor is pretty chill and clear with his explanations. I wouldn't take the class again, but I wouldn't mind having him as a teacher again.

This was possibly the best instructor I've ever had. He was willing to work with me when I had to miss class for migraines and very nice overall. You absolutely have to read the book for the daily quizzes but the assigned reading are maybe a few pages. Philosophy is a hard subject to begin with but he was clear and I would love to take another clas

Simply put, he is overqualified for this university. The department is lucky to have him. You must do the homework as well as show up to class. He isn't difficult at all but he is old school. You work for your grade, he will not give it to you unless of course you count the 3 point curve on your over all grade. The rest is up to you.

I've only taken Professor Cleveland for this one Formal Logic class, but based on this one class, I would love to take Cleveland again. He was very clear, and I learned a ton of very useful information. Try to have relatively easy classes during the semester you take Formal Logic. To get the most out of this class, you need to put in the time.

Half of the registered students dropped out after the first few weeks. There are daily quizzes that make up most of your grade and if you miss any it has a devastating effect on your grade. The final grade is based on homework which is done online and the assignments are very tedious and time consuming. There are two tests that are a doozy. Study!

Professor Cleveland, like all university professors, is a sales rep'. Don't ask him to advise on minor degree or elective course work. Cleveland is the head of his department and will not say no to admitting another warm body to his class. One redeeming attribute of his logic course is the one book requirement. A book that is merely 100 pages.

Highly qualified; phenomenal professor. I often take classes that are not required for any of my majors just to have another opportunity to learn from Dr. Cleveland. He is passionate about what he teaches, and he cares deeply for his students.

Metaphysics, 1st summer @NMSU. Wish Id taken it in regular semester when there werent a bunch of Phil major lambes (suckups!) in the front row, ha. He taught to them, ignored us. Looks like Scott Bakula from Quantum Leap-in a good way&dresses well. My boyfriend (1 of those phil lambes) luvs him; Cleveland'll meet u @High Desert to talk philosophy.

Dr. Cleveland was my first and favorite Phil prof @ NMSU. He's been an inspiration to me in the 4 classes I've taken with him because of his interest in the subject and ability to communicate the complexity of the context in which philosophical progress occurs. I hope to be like him someday when I'm a professor. Highly recommended- and a nice guy!

He's a pretty good teacher. Makes very clear points, although in the habit of philosophers tends to think that his understanding of the world must be the correct one, but he doesn't really preach very often. I'm not sure why almost everyone is drooling over him in the other comments, though. He's not God. I'm learning a lot in the class, but I'd be bored out of my mind/ failing if I didn't make myself pay attention/ care about the subject material. Overall, a very good professor.

Tim Cleveland is one of the best professors teaching today. His passion and knowledge are unsurpassed and the only reason anyone could possibly not be impressed is if they have no business being in that class to begin with.

He presents logic clearly and tolerates idiots in the classroom by pointing out their lack of logic in arguments. A key to being a good philosopher.

I liked the guy. He seems like the kind of guy that would be fun. Though some people found him boring and hard, I felt quite the reverse. I guess you just have to pay more attention to what he says than, say, your shoe. Good teach, will take again
