One of the better professors I've had at UMD. Very caring and clearly articulates exactly what you should know and study. Course is heavily weighted towards labs and projects. They take a while to get working but you learn a ton in the process. His lectures are a little tedious but very interesting. If you get the chance, definitely choose him.

Very good professor, does a nice job explaining the material and how code works. He keeps projects and code as up to dare as possible in ever-changing world. Projects and labs aren't too bad, but they do build on each other, so falling behind could be rough. Can be a little dull and monotone, but overall a genuine and helpful professor. No book!

You get as much back as you put into this class. Exams are based exactly on what you learned, reference provided on eaxm2&final, sample questions on the site. Labs/Assignments can get a bit long and are due at 8pm (beware:part time job). Talks way too high level when discussing the lab/assignments that it doesn't help. Good prof, he knows his CS.

Lectures can prove to be difficult to stay focused on, as they are essentially read from a slideshow presentation. Clear and concise responses when asked a question pertaining to the class material. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Buying the textbook is overkill, as all information is given out on slides and on his website. Curves the class grade.

Don't bother buying the book. Everything is on the slides, nicely laid out. He's good at keeping long lectures interesting, and takes time to walk through and explain assignments in class.

I took Honors Computer Science with him. The textbook is free as a PDF. His lectures consist of a ton of slides, but they are thorough which is nice. Easy to ask questions. Assignments teach you a lot and are decently fun to do. He enjoys teaching and it is noticeable. I wish the tests weren't timed though!

Book itself is worthless. Slides are from publisher. Basically restate the entire book. Lectures are completely unoriginal and extremely boring. Group project is a joke, you end up doing it by yourself. Tests are poorly written. Ask your TA if you need help; it's a better bet.
