The problem with Tim is that he relies totaly on his research and does not give the standard literature. He is also unfair concerning grading. Attend his courses only if you are interested in his research. Otherwise, he is very nice and helpful outside the class.

A very vague class. Easy assignments that count for 40% and no midterm. Uses his own second rate book which has a typo that he hasn't noticed for at least 6 years. Some topics are explained with no more than a single-page illustration with no actual explanation except for what he says during lecture. Speaks quietly and mutters sometimes.

I took two courses with him, and both followed the same format: a lot of course notes posted online from which he reads or copies to board in class. If you study his notes and do the (numerous, weekly) assignments, which are fairly easy themselves, it's an easy A minus in his courses.
