Comment:
He tries to make his lectures interesting, but I always found them very hard to follow. He is always available to help, but he always made me feel stupid when I did go in for help. He also did not seem to care about his students grades as much as other professors I have here. He is a great person, but definitely was not my favorite professor.

Dr. Rettich is the cutest old man I have ever seen. He does a great job explaining every topic covered (with the exception of the quantum unit, but the test wasn't too hard). Most students dislike him because of the course itself. If you love chemistry, you will like him. Also he posts old exams online, which are very helpful. He is also funny!

Comment:
Dr. Rettich is very intelligent with the material he covers, but sometimes explains it in confusing ways. He does a good job at preparing you and making sure you know the material through tests, quizzes, and homework. Tests can be tough but good grades can be achieved if you are willing to work a little

He's a tough professor. He's pretty clear in class and he does try to make things interesting. His tests are hard. You have to study a lot and do the homework to get a good grade. He's always available for help, but can be condescending. Overall, he's good, but hard.

Dr. Rettich is extremely helpful. He's arguably the best lecturer in the department, especially for 322, when the material is next to impossible to understand.

Toughest class I ever took in my life. Totally worth it, though, and Rettich will help you understand it. You have to get over yourself and go see him for help. If you do, he'll really clarify the things you don't get.

When he teaches, it seems easy. When you practice, it becomes extremely hard. He is an extremely stringent grader when it comes to labs. He likes to throw pop quizzes here and there. His tests can be difficult.

chem 201 is intense and dr. rettich is a tough prof - tests are hard, but he is helpful if u go to his office. focuses too much on unimportant aspects of chemistry and his tests always have stuff on there that's irrelevant (in my opinion). i did not feel prepared for the standardized ACS exam at the end of the course.

He was a great teacher and a wonderful advisor all four years in school. No it's not easy, but who says chemistry is? And the other comment about current students being lucky to not have te integrated program-oh do I agree! It was ugly.

He is an okay professor. i think we need some new chemistry professors though, since most of them are not that good at teaching. I think i only went to like...10 of his lectures this semester.

Probably the worst chemistry course I will ever take. Labs require error propagation which is tedious. Instructor tested over irrelevant material. If you have the option to not take his course, I would highly suggest you take it.

Not a good teacher for Gen Chem. He is very detail-oriented and tested us on meaningless aspects of chemistry (e.g. "chemical of the day" trivia. He made you feel stupid for asking questions. I never felt that he sincerely wanted us to do wel
