Professor Armstrong is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He has actually inspired and encouraged all of the students in my class to continue with Russian, and he understands that it is difficult and takes time to learn a slavic language. He is an extremely amazing prof, and Russian is an extremely fun and interesting language to learn!

Comment:

The most approachable prof on campus. Loves what he teaches, and really knows his stuff. Keeps the class interesting and is welcoming to new ideas and perspectives, something kind of uncommon with profs who are this smart. I highly recommend both this course and this professor.

Professor Armstrong is a great mentor, very open minded, open to help and interested in making you grow and develop as a student. Very helpful in and out of class, very approachable. Definitely picks out very interesting material for class readings while giving a great deal of freedom in class discussions. A really good, diverse class experience.

Professor Armstrong challenged my thinking and clarity in writing. He was always willing to help and would offer great comments on paper drafts. I wish I had taken better advantage of this. Overall, he's a fun, reasonable professor and, as others have mentioned, a great cook.
