Comment:
You only need the book for a few tables, so just borrow it. Sometimes his lectures were confusing and he went too fast for me yet exams and assignments can be completed in a group including the article critique. In class exercises are very similar to take home tests so use them as practice (exercise days can greatly increase your grade).

His lectures tend to be dry, granted it's a statistics class so it can only be so exciting. Barely used the book, only need critical value charts. Exercise days every Weds, problems done in class for participation pts (no homework!). 5 exams, take-home, and he's a lenient grader w/ TONS of extra credit. Take ANTH335 with Todd if you can!

I had Todd for Hunter-Gatherers. I love his laid back, conversational approach to lectures. I learned more form him in a 4 credit class than I did my two 5 credit classes combined.

I like this guy! He knows his stuff, his grading expectations are VERY student friendly (ie he doesn't demand you pour your heart and soul into every little assignment), his feedback is great, and his tests are over the weekend. That being said, they do take fair amount of time, but they aren't hard. Please take his class!

Being the Head of the Anthropology Department, this guy knows his stuff. You can tell he know's what he's doing, though a lack of presentations to refer to makes it almost impossible to miss class if you don't have a good buddy. This class will test you. There is extra credit on tests ( 5 of them) , and they are take home, so find smart friends.

I'm taking him for ANTH 335 - Quantitative and it's so nice to have math make sense and towards your degree. He is funny, educated, and a normal kind of guy who speaks in normal person terms. On Weds, we have practical practice (very important) to help you understand the material and the exams are based on lectures and the practices. Great prof.

Todd is a great professor. If you're willing to attend lectures and read the majority of the sections he assigns you're golden. I loved this class, he's funny and keeps things interesting. Also, if you're doing a project or paper, do project--he's a way lenient grader! Overall loved this class, TAKE IT

Todd's class is super straight forward. Three tests and a project or paper, your choice. Textbook not necessary, I bought it and never used it. Go to class, take notes, and questions when confused. If you do that you'll pass, pretty simple. Nice that Todd tells stories and shows pictures from his past digs, real experience is cool to hear about!

Todd's class is simple. You go to class, take notes, and ask questions. If you do those three things you will pass. (also obviously complete the project and three tests) He tells stories and shows photos from his time on various digs, and will answer all questions in depth. If you engage you'll enjoy it, if not, your loss.

This class is graded as a total of 400 points, 3 exams and 1 paper or project. His tests were extremely difficult and during class all you do is take notes/listen to his power-points. He sometimes rushes through so you don't have time to write everything, but he does post them on blackboard. Lectures are hard to go to since he is very monotone

Intro to Archaeology is a great class! Very interesting subject matter. Koetje is a wonderful professor as well. Quirky and tries his best to keep lectures interesting. He has goofy jokes and talks about a hypothetical "Bob" a lot. When you take the class you'll understand. Take the class!

I went into college thinking I was going to be an archaeology major, and was extremely excited to start college with Intro to Archaeology. Professor Koetje loves to answer questions and showed 2 movies in class that were used as questions on the subsequent tests so attendance on fridays might be a good idea. All in all take his classes he's great!

This was the most boring class of my life, I had it in the morning and his voice put me to sleep. Definitely not what I expected after reading all the positive reviews, it was a horrible class. Tests are fairly difficult but not impossible. All PPT slides are on BB. If you didn't want to go to class just read the text book and look over slides.

I'm not a math person and I hate statistics with the passion of a thousand burning suns. That being said, Koetje was okay for the most part at explaining the things we needed to know. But his voice is boring and sometimes he's hard to follow. Expect LOTS of Archaeology examples because that's all he's got.

I hate statistics, but Koetje is a wonderful teacher and I actually managed to get a B+ in this class. The tests are take-home and most of the other assignments are done in groups. Attending class isn't required but extremely beneficial.

Either attend class or read the text, can do both but not necessary. I chose to do the paper, did it the night before, with less than required amount of pages and received an 89 because I didn't include pictures. Easy tests. Biggest complaint, his voice put me to sleep.
