Had him for History of New Jersey. He can go on about any topic in history for hours (and actually did on one occassion). His papers are easy as long as you keep up with the readings. Would love to take him again, but Spring 2010 is his last time at Kean.

Comment:

Dr. Banit is an ex-Marines who fought in the Vietnam War. His active interest in history will make you want to learn more and participate. He has tons of information and classes can seem to take forever but it's all interesting info. and he is worth listening to. Admirable and respectable Professor.

nice guy, gets off topic sometimes but tells some interesting stories. all he wants to do is convince you to go into the military but otherwise hes easy. do the work, open book quizzes. fair guy, always willing to help. study the main ideas!!

Amazing professor and a wonderful man! His class may not be easy, but he will go out of his way to help you with anything. He assigns a lot of reading, which you utilize for papers and quizzes. His in-class discussions are entertaining...especially his personal experiences. I feel as if I've traveled all over! Take him and you WILL learn!!!

He is a very interesting professor who is really passionate about NJ History, especially Battleship NJ. His class isn't easy, you really have to put an effort into your papers in order to do well on them, but if you use all your sources and lots of quotes you will get a good grade on them. He really encourages you to learn.

Dr. Banit's History of NJ class isn't easy in the sense that you can do well just working half-ass. You have to put A LOT of effort into your papers, and when he says there'll be quizzes on the radings, he's not kidding. But overall, he's an wesome professor who really knows what he's talking about.
