Very funny. Fantastic at concisely presenting large amounts of information. Sometimes a little unclear and sometimes digresses, but that's nitpicking an otherwise great professor. He grades a little on the easy side (by 'Dale standards) but always has grades back quickly.

Its a shame so few students become philosophy majors or minors; Hillsdale's philosophy department is awesome. Dr. Burke has guided, challenged, and supported me throughout my years here. His knowledge of the subjects, and his ability to argue for or against a position on the fly is amazing. Take him in a 300-400 level class.

Dr. Burke is very charming, but very boring. He is repetitive and vague. If you take his class, definitely read along thoroughly in order to do well on the exams and short papers (usually 1 or 2 pages).

He is great in seminars and standard lectures. Great moderator of discussion and is funny (albeit, not afraid to insult people). He presents the philosophers opinions and argues for each of them (and their subsequent refutations of other philosophers). His knowledge of philosophy and theology is deep.

A somewhat slow and deliberate professor; he tends to repeat himself. The exam questions seem very hard, but he doesn't grade them too toughly. Overall, not a bad professor, and a moderately easy grader.

Seems nice. Kinda distant from us, though he's warming up a little. Has this annoying habit of tapping his feet while sitting-very distracting. We haven't had any tests or quizzes yet, and apparently won't until midterms and finals. Only two papers per semester. Lots of reading, but you really don't have to do it as long as you pay attention.

He is the most brillant and excellant professor ever. You don't really need to do the reading, but pay attention in class. The test materials are all on notes and powerpoint materials. He is a really easy grader and He has a good sense of humor. I love his class. I didn't even feel I sat in the classroom for 3 hours for his lectures everyday

Medieval Philosophy - it sucks, but Dr. Burke makes it interesting, if not exactly fun. You have to do a freakish amount of reading, but he grades pretty easy.

His super tight sweaters are NOT hot...but he is a great prof. He isn't super hard. You don't really need do any of the reading for this course, but he expects you to know EVERYTHING he discusses in class, but though he expects much he grades VERY easy.
