You don't need to show up to class. He doesn't take attendance. Very monotone lectures, often lets class out early. Makes fun of students when they try to answer questions he asked. Can be vague. Half of the class is him playing video lectures and not lecturing himself. Graded on final and midterm, which are easy, he will look them over for you.

Professor Carroll is a good Philosophy teacher. He knows the book by memory. There's a Mid-Term and Final Exam only. Both are base on five terms of your choice and write them on how they are related to Philosophy. Extra credit is base on a video he shows you and type a page on what speaker is talking about. Easy A!! He helps you on your papers.

He was a great teacher. When you came into class, he could pick on you to read your homework out loud, which would be what you found interesting in the chapter. There was only a midterm and a final. Each of them are papers, just one page per term. Each term being utilitarianism, individualism etc. You just describe it. I received a 98% on both.

He is clear and stays on topic. If you try, this class will help you become a better you. This class will help your life. The lectures are light and fun for the most part, sometimes throwing in a few beneficial and intellectual jokes to keep the class rolling smoothly. Some topics can be difficult to grasp, but do not let that discourage you.

The lectures difficult to keep up with and you basically show up in class for nothing because he just talks broadly about the reading and lets everyone go. Especially international students shouldnt take this class because the things he says and writes down are so hard to understand. Overall boring class and i dont suggest it to anyone.

Professor Caroll's class is easy and straightforward. You get graded on your midterm and final, and there is a 3 point extra credit (video essay). Personally, I find him funny and intelligent, but the only problem is that he doesn't communicate outside of class. I STRONGLY recommend going to his first class to receive a syllabus.

If you aren't lazy and put even some effort in trying to understand the material, you will get an A. Rarely went and asked him any questions I had before the midterm and final, in which he willingly answered and got an A on both. Would seriously recommend if you want to learn philosophy/humanities in a way that will benefit you.

He was one of my favorite professor at Saddleback so far. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should do most of the readings. The two weeks before the midterm and final, show up because he will go over every question and answer for the essays, which was really helpful. As long as you put in some effort and pay attention, you will get an A

Professor Carroll is very intellectual but will not go out of his way to help any student. From the beginning you are told that you are graded by two things which include: the Midterm and the Final. Class is not mandatory but professor Carroll does provide all the answers that you will need in order to pass the class.

Biggest downside is you cannot contact him outside of class and there are only two grades. However, attendance is not mandatory and all you do is read the online book. Grades are essays over the readings and he will tell you what he expects on them. Pretty black and white class. Minimal work minus the midterm and final.

Middle of the semester and this teacher has been one of the worst teachers I have had throughout attending any school in my life!He likes to try to embarrass students by making comments that don't make sense and he has not once taken attendance since the first day of class but threatens to take 5 points off our midterm everytime we forget something

He's obviously extremely intelligent. Every day he'd ask for questions on the reading, and would spend all class answering them-- so he never had any lecture planned. I was impressed by his extensive knowledge. However, he is also extremely condescending. Once you get over that though, just recite the lectures in your essays and you'll have an A.

Firstly, we have to purchase his personally published e-book which costs $100. For an ethics class, it is quite unethical to force students to purchase this book for his class at such a steep cost. He also pushes his opinions & can be argumentative with students. The class is easy & the topic is interesting, but he is simply not a good professor.

His syllabus has no contact information, yet the midterm and final are pretty plain and simple, but if you have a question, he'll just say, "its on the syllabus," and walk away. Make friends in this class in case you miss lecture. Take notes on everything, its an extremely unstructured lecture.

Carroll doesn't deal with people who don't respect him and his time. He was very politically opinionated which is fine but it took a lot to hold back and not speak up against him. He is a good professor. Mumble a ton, so sit in the front. There are only two grades and that is the written midterm and final. GO TO CLASS, he literally gives essay info

This class could've been interesting if I wasn't so bad at writing papers. The midterm and final are both 10 page papers, each page on a term he assigns. MAKE SURE YOU READ all of the novels... I recorded all his lectures and that's what got me by. Do all the reading and if you can write you'll be fine. Just don't procrastinate

I took his class last spring, there were only 2 assignments due for his class (midterm & final.) He defines the terms and provides examples, all you need to do is elaborate and you should be fine. Always have books with you and at least act like you know what you're doing, he doesn't pick on people who look prepared. Learn to abbreviate notes.

There are only two papers the entire semester and those are 10 pages long single-spaced. He does explain how to do them and helps with the first one, but for the second one, he barely explains the concepts needed to be included in the paper at all. We just read books and come to class and state a couple quotes.
