I took Dr. Yacovone for my first soc class ever. Let mi tell you, the man dosn't discuss anything from the book at all. I think I learned more about his life rather than sociology as a whole. Book is mandatory since he does ask questions from the book, but I didn't open it once and got a C. If you attend class, he'll pass you. Interesting man.

He's an ok teacher,the classis kind of boring.All u need 2 do to to pass in read the book.u just watch videos 4 the majority of the semester.Talks about his familly n repeats himself often.No essay or projects 2 do.Just read the book n pass. He dosen't test u on the videos. Want an easy class w/no work to do but read then take this class.

i used to love this subject but this professor made me hate it. Worst teacher ever. We had to self teach us. only lectures about his own family and repeats same thing over and over again. so to pass his class you need to memorize chapters from the book. Do Not Take His Class!!

A gifted & passionate teacher.Inspires his students.His ideas and question will stick w/you long after the class is over.(15 years for me.)We should all strive to make an impact on people the way he did for me.I went on to University and he is definitely my top 3 profs of all time.Not even closr to my major.Highly recommended.Thanks Yacovone!

AWESOME instructor, very dedicated and passionate.This is the kind of class where if you want to pass, YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO READ... thats why its called "COLLEGE" and by the way, he changed his tests so if you have copies, they won't help you.

The videos were interesting, but he is constantly stopping them and talking over the video. His lectures are informative but puts people on the spot and will ask for parcipitation. His writing is terrible. There are not many notes so the tests are on book material which is never covered in lecture. Look for someone else or plan on reading the book.

FUNNY AT TIMES. VERY INFORMATIVE AND TESTS ARE BASED ON NOTES AND STATISTICS. PAY ATTENTION AND WATCH OUT BECAUSE HE ALWAYS ASKS "WHAT DID YOU GET OUT OF THAT?" ONE THING THAT IS BAD IS THAT HE PUTS ON VIDEOS AND TALKS THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE THING NOT ALLOWING YOU TO HEAR OR ENJOY THE FILMS.

Tests are based on class & lectures. Pay attention to statistics. Definitely enthusiastic, but some of the complaints are valid too. he does occasionally disappear. Sometimes seems distracted and repeats stories multiple times. Otherwise, very knowledgeable. Thinks alot of himself, and comes across as arrogant but I don't think it's intentional.

highly recommend this teacher to anyone who is up to doing some reading and taking notes. he is very nice but also very strict on lecture and discussion. the grade is basicly based on the tests andclass discussion participation. if you participate and read the book, you will be fine in the class.

Highly recommended! He's very enthusiastic about teaching, and you'll definitely learn a lot. He doesn't lecture from the book, so you need to show up to get all the content for the tests (also takes attendance). I wasn't very interested in sociology at first, but he made it very interesting. Be ready to participate like others have said. Take him!
