Comment:

Dr. Pace is a nice guy but he doesn't seem very knowledgeable as he assigns very similar topic/style papers back to back. His grading is very subjective and does not go off any specific criteria. On the plus, he does give you good feedback on papers and lets you revise before they are fully graded. Class always goes over at least 5 minutes

Dr. Pace is an awesome professor. Definitely one of the funniest professors at carroll. He is very helpful, and his sense of humor was a great addition. The class is also fun, and gets people involved so you don't just sit there and take notes. Would recommend.

If you're not a graduate assistant, don't bother taking this class. Pace focuses on pedagogy but gives no helpful sample materials (i.e. syllabi or assignment sheets). Final paper format is dumb. He makes you write a bibliography that's at least 2 pages longer than the essay itself, leaving no room for original thought

He's impatient with students who don't take class seriously. If I was teaching and a student was surfing the net in class, I'd get mad too. Better for serious students, not students who use class to socialize.

Dr. Pace's arrogance, paired with an intense stutter makes lectures hard to listen to. When asked questions, he often produces a belittling response. Strict attendance policy and makes no effort to accommodate athletes when missing class for sporting events. If you love Shakespeare then it's a toss up but otherwise avoid him. He is sub par at best.

For the first month and a half of the class I actually hated him; he was just a jerk to the class. Later on though i realized that he only gave us bad grades on our beginning papers to give us a chance to revise and improve them. Hes also a really cool guy to just sit and talk to also. If you want to improve your writing at JCU, this is a must take

I think it is noteworthy that this was, I think, my least enjoyable class ever. You, of course, might have a different experience, but I wouldn't chance it; Pace doesn't communicate a sense of intelligence at all. He is full of an unearned sense of worth, as well. Material was trite and inconsequential, as was the course in general.

If you are looking for an easy A, DO NOT take Dr. Pace. This is probably the reason for all of those hateful comments stupid students write. If you are looking to improve as a writer and develop critical thinking and self-consciousness of your quality of work, he is the man. I am a chem major, and still his class helped me incredibly. RECOMMENDED!!

great prof.-very interesting and funny-if you talk to him after class or stop by his office you will find he is actually a pretty cool guy to just chat with. But he was a fair grader, and the homework load was fair as well. No final exam, just a final paper/group project/magazine.

i would not recommend taking his classes if you do not enjoy english and/or are just looking to complete your english requirements. pace is extremely sarcastic, he doesn't give straight answers when you ask for help, and he is a harsh grader. however, if you can tolerate the class and care enough to put forth effort, you'll do fairly well.

at first i really didn't like dr. pace because he's extremely arrogant. but by the end of the semester, i really changed my mind about him. he can be really tough but i learned more in his class than i ever have in all my english classes combined! he knows what he's doing and really pushes his students

Dr. Pace is a little cocky and can be kind of a jerk sometimes. But overall, he's a good teacher. It may seem like all the work is pointless and dumb, but it really helps you out in the end. Also, I became a MUCH better writer after taking his class. And if you revise your papers well for the final projects, an A is easy to achieve!
