Comment:
Very boring, very monotone voice. The class is just one long lecture (usually just concepts) with very little to no in class examples. There is non mandatory homework, but if you don't do it, you won't get practice. No class participation, and few opportunities to ask questions. Only things graded are 4 exams and a final. Take someone else.

COME TO CLASS. He lectures with practice problems from note packets during class. For tests: utilize your note packet, textbook, group studies and COME TO CLASS. He gives practice exams/keys that are very similar to actual exams - VERY helpful. Hes intriguing to me. Hes kinda funny and adorable. Great office hours. Excellent professor!

There are four exams and nothing else. He doesn't tell you this at the beginning of the semester, but he will drop your lowest grade and count your final exam grade twice if it is higher. GO TO THE SI SESSIONS if you want to do well. They are extremely helpful since he may just casually mention an important concept that he tests heavily over.

I had Professor Rybolt for chem lab. Clear grading criteria, makes lab interesting, tries to be funny. He's adorkable. This was easily the most fun lab I've had. I'd take him again. He's accessible outside class, doesn't mind questions, and is genuinely interested in the success of his students.

Grade is based on the 4 exams taken. No extra credit is given, and expects you to spend most of your time studying chemistry. I personally have not enjoyed taking this class and would steer clear of his class if possible.

I loved Professor Rybolt!! He isn't super out going or anything but he really knows his stuff. Chem 2 is a really hard class and it's going to be hard regardless who you take it with but he was very clear on the material and also made practice tests available that were very very similar to the actual tests.

Dr. Rybolt doesn't utilize any text book for his notes. Even though he completely comes up with all of his material, he still has online homework from the book. The hw is extra credit so you only have 3 exams and a final for grades. He is difficult to pay attention to and will not allow anyone to have laptops in class. mediocre and wouldn't retake.

Rybolt knows his stuff he just goes way too fast with the material. Everyone always ends up leaving class confused and have to teach our selves outside of class. The only grades are 3 exams and a final but he does give extra credit for attendance. Overall a hard class, but with hard work a B and even an A are possible.

I have heard many great things about this professor in Chem 1120 however my experience in Chem 1110 was not so great. It was very hard to adjust to his test structure and you only receive 4 grades.

Rybolt is a good professor and he knows what he's talking about. The only grades are 4 exams and a final, and one of the 4 exams can be dropped. This class is defiently not an easy A but with hard work and studying it is very possible. Use his website and do the practice tests, if you know how to do the practice tests, the real exams are similar.

all he does is reads us the textbook. the only grades that u have are the exams. he doesn't work out problems or help if u need it. im attending 3 SI Sessions that's not even for this class to get some kind of help because i'm not trying to be a failure. I DO NOT recommend him being your professor.

I took Dr. Rybolt for Chem 2 and it was a bad experience. I was the salutatorian of my high school and I've never made a C in my life before coming to his class. His teaching style is very hard to understand and the tests don't correlate with the lectures. He is a hilarious and a great person but I wouldn't recommend having him as a teacher.

Great Professor! He is beyond willing to help you understand the material. It is necessary to study and do the problems that he assigns in the book. He gives old hour exams that are similar to the test you will have. He is a great professor and I would definitely recommend him. I got an A in the class but you definitely will have to work for it.

Rybolt is awesome. His website is completely informative. Just study the practice exams and you'll do great. All the questions, on the real exams, are practice exam questions word for word, or with different variables.

While his class is very informative, it is easy to be overwhelmed. Chemistry isn't easy to understand to begin with but this professor's class was very hard to comprehend. He did not use any other method but lecture (no outside aids). This class is for those who learn best by listening and can teach themselves easily if they become confused.

Personally, the professor is nice, but his teaching is not the best. He rushes through lectures and it's easy to get lost. His class is more for Chemistry majors. He gives NO extra credit and he doesn't seem like he makes much of an effort to help when you ask. I would advise people not to take his class.

Dr. Rybolt has my greatest admiration and respect of all the faculty at UTC. He is an excellent professor, his teaching is clear, he answers questions well, funny-but beyond that, he is an excellent human being, one of the best I have ever known, and I only took him for one class. Cares about students. Authored many books. Likes demos with fire! :)

Rybolt is the man! his web site helps a ton and he gives practice tests. His actaul tests are alot harder but they give you a good guide. He has a very dry sense of humor that makes the class go alot better. I am a Chem. major and i am going to take him every chance i get! You should too!
