Tom Stroik is a man who knows his stuff. He wasn't very approachable initially in class, however, upon meeting him one on one in his office hours, this changed immediately. He is very helpful, knowledgeable, and insightful. Always took time for students and became one of my favorites at UMKC. (Took his Structure English) p.s. STUDY!!!

He was my favorite teacher. That changed when he found out I was an undergrad who argued his views. His grading on my papers showed how he questioned why I didn’t argue this (his way!) He is the sort of teacher who will reward those who drink his Kool-Aid. Many do. This is the sort of teacher for those who aren’t motivated to think for themselves.

Huge disappointment, he seemed to be enjoyable at first. As those in class began to express their views it was clear that you better agree with him or figure out what he thinks. He is no doubt a smart man, but he doesn't need to be so difficult as to alienate those who truly want to learn. He firmly held the key that chose who would be a scholar.

Great teacher! Always available for help - and in this class (Hist. of Eng Lang.) you'll need it! He makes assignments SEEM difficult, but with further explanation, they become very doable. I suggest this class for anyone - the teacher is great and the content is fascinating!
