Smug, arrogant, condescending. Regurgitate all he says & get your easy A. Undergrads are less than. Was my assigned "adviser". Just useless. After one session, I met with another prof for my academic planning. If this guy wasn't working in a university ivory tower, he wouldn't last more than a week.

I have taken three classes taught by Tom and he is very smart and knowledgable but truthfully isn't that friendly.

Okay class. He's super nice, but not great at lecturing, he bounces from topic to topic and is very unorganized. I only went to class occassionally and I should end up with an A (granted I'm a geology major so I knew almost everything he taught us)

GO to the review session the Friday before tests. He gives most of the answers for tests then. I HATED all the news articles he brought in. He drags out one topic for three days. Boring! Always talks about how he was a city planner. Demographic project only worth 10 pts. Don't spend too much time on it. Not a well organized class.

Complete waste of time, unless you have never read a book or watched the travel channel. If you need this class to get an easy GUR out of the way then take it. but if you are interested at all in the subject or want to learn anything more then common sense and trite trivia can provide you, then dont take this class.

Terich assigns readings but very rarely tests from them alone. His upper level classes become more involved. You actually have to go to class.... WOW what a concept?!?!!?! If you take notes and study for the tests (which he gives you study guides for...) you'll do fine. I got an A in 203 and 320.

I enjoyed the class. The tests have multiple-choice parts and he give a study-guide out before each test. If you use the study guide you should be able to ace the tests.

He seems to really like laughing at people dying because of weather related events. Awkward. It's true that he skirts questions. He often says..."I don't really know, I'll have to think about that."

Completely agree with comment below. Teach seems to be oblivious and definitely not helpful. The TA (Jonah) helps as much as you need. Prof very focused on weather the entire semester...tons of repetition. He can waste a whole class talking about one small topic. Gives study guides for tests...know them inside and out and you will do fine.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. I even went in to work with him before tests and he was no help at all. His lectures are scattered and he never answers students questions just skirts around them. I am pretty sure he has NO idea what he is talking about. Don't take this class it is a waste of time. The TA would be a better teacher even.

Memorize everything he says otherwise you will be so lost on the tests. His wording is really strange.

Learn a lot of the same stuff as in GEOL 101, but in a different/easier way. Nice to be able to explain the weather now though.

seemed like a nice man, but did not seem very well versed in the subject.. in place of this class take geology 252 with pete stelling and learn twice as much! tom terich would respond with a dick answer to any legitimate question brought up during lecture.

Easy on the eyes, hard on the grades. This guy talks about weather all the time, I agree with other commenter. Great if y ou want to learn about weather, his weather map exercises are cool. Bad if you want to learn about other geology.

I actually dropped the version of this class taught by a nonPhd so I could take it from him. This was even worse! He is boring. His lectures aren't in line with topic of class. You can just plain tell that he doesn't care at ALL! There is nothing to recommend this professor.

Follow the advice of a person who's taken 3 of his classes to get an A: Go to class EVERYDAY. Write down EVERYTHING he says. DON'T READ THE BOOK. He will NEVER go that in depth. Every exam will have some sort of chart/figure worth 25-30% of the test grade - IT WILL BE FROM LECTURE, MEMORIZE IT. Know basics of everything on his study guide. Good luc

Easy class/prof. Interesting material covered, although some of it is just common sense. Terich is nice and understanding, and tells lots of stories. Good GUR, but not a good class if you want depth of material. I would recommend this class.

I took 3 classes , Human geography, physical geography, and natural hazards from him, and THEY WERE ALL THE SAME! An easy A minus, but damn, our tuition and state tax dollars are paying someone whose not doing a lot of work.
