Comment:
My chem lab was usually taught by Dr. Ball until something happened in middle of the semester, Dr. Vogt took over our lab. He is very sweet and nice but extremely tough on grading on our lab homework. He is older and when he talks you can barely hear him talking.

Tom Vogt is a very kind man, but should have retired decades ago. He will get through maybe half of the curriculum but will still test students on concepts never covered in class. One will not get a rigorous treatment of course material, yet exams are still very difficult. He grades on the plus minus scale and will not budge.

Dr. Vogt is a very nice man but extremely difficult. Be aware that he deducts a lot of points for not writing the right sig figs on your homework assignments for the lab.

Dr. Vogt is the sweetest older gentleman, but he did not do so well with teaching. He was confused by his own problems and answers at times and dragged class along. He is an inconsistent grader, partner quizzes get different grades and tests with unfair point values. He is adorable but I did not get what I hoped for his class.

Dr. Vogt is a great person but it does not relay in his teaching. His lectures are very confusing and so are his tests. He is not a consistent grader and says he will give you half credit if you show your work, but apparently forgets when he is grading the tests. He comes to class late and ends class early, so it seems pointless to go to class.

I am not learning anything- will perform demonstrations and go so fast that no one can see what happened--if you write words to closely together he will take off points from your lab--even if you use a word that means the same thing, if he does not like the term you used he will take off points. awful and I can't believe I am paying for this class

Has issues with consistent grading, being on time, remaining present in the lab- but once you get past that, he's a great guy. Will attempt to explain a concept or lab until you get it.

Great guy but he's getting up there in years so sometimes he can forget something mid-sentence or equation. Has a monotone so lectures can and prob. will put you to sleep. Easy tests & allows 3x5notecard which you will use. Would recommend if you can grasp concepts easily the first time around. Simple expectations of students, no major memorization

I didn't listen to rate my prof and now I have to repeat this class. Hardly anything useful gleaned from class, even less when questions were answered. If you can teach yourself analytical chem try him, otherwise avoid at all cost!!!!

Dr. Vogt is a nice guy who obviously really loves chemistry. However, the class is slow and confusing. He often does the math incorrectly which is a bit unnerving for Analytical Chemistry.

He always showed up late, yet if you showed up late he was furious. Had some decent characteristics. He was nice and enjoyed chemistry. However, he wasn't understanding and constantly made errors in math and writing. He was slow and he often forgot what he was saying. Worst of all his grading methods were beyond strict

He talks to the board after showing up to class at least ten minutes late. He grades inconsistently and docks however much he wants depending on each person. There is no continuity and no real learning being done. Last I heard the whiteboard has a few degrees under his belt since he gets the most instruction! Avoid him at all costs!

Dr. Vogt is very nice but his teaching leaves a lot to be desired. He isn't very clear during the labs but gives a difficult final. He's willing to help but is very picky.

Dr. Vogt, shows up to class 10 minutes late every single class period. Class is supposed to start at 8:00am and he shows up between 8:10 and 8:11. He is well past his time of teaching. He consistantly makes basic math errors and forgets what he is talking about. I would avoid taking another class from him

I love Dr.Vogt!! He's always available and more than happy to help. Unlike the other chem profs I've had who are always "very busy" and bothered by even a quick question.

Dr. Vogt is really nice and very slow. If you like the slow paced class take him but only if you're good at chemistry. He doesn't get through very much material and the ACS test is really difficult

I am Chem major with perfect attendance. I did not understand how what he said connected to the material. He would beat the same horse to death while never covering the material we were expected to learn. I regularly met with him after class, and got some help but not enough. Class average on tests was %50. Do not take him!

Dr. Vogt is a very sweet man, just way over his time teaching. Our final covered pretty much the whole book (27 chapters) We actually covered about 11 in class! I felt like I was just teaching myself this material :( The times I did try to get extra help he 4got our apt 2x and seemed very inconvenience by it... The whole class struggled!

Dr. Vogt is a really nice witty old man. I get bored during class because it was a little to slow paced for what I am used to. His tests are average and the class average is usually 75-85%. If you like a slower paced class and need alot of review then take him. He is good at explaining things and really cares about the students He is also adorable!
