Comment:

Great teacher. He is soft spoken and has an accent so you should sit close to the front & listen carefully. Labs consist of step by step instructions. Homeworks - based off lecture. Quizzes - based off lecture & labs, can be challenging. Overall, a very knowledgeable person. If you put in the effort, you will learn. Reading from book is a must.

Comment:

What I could give to be able to understand what he's saying. Little overlap from lecture and what you need to teach yourself to do the labs and homework. The class is weighted on mostly the quizzes and final. Anything from the lectures, labs, and homework is fair game for the quizzes. I did well on the final despite barely knowing what to do.

Long but deserved review, took him in Summer 2016. Definitely better than any other 310 professor in this department, especially Karant. Yu explains very detailed and is willing to work with students.

Software Development was made a lot more efficient with him around. There is a reason this man got his Ph.D from John Hopkins. It clearly shows in his ability to debug any problem you have on the spot. Missing a parenthesis in line 341 of your code, he will find it quicker than shortest job first can finish the processes.

This is the best professor in our department. Thoroughly explains how spaghetti works. Would definitely form deadlocks with chopsticks again with him!

I took him for the JAVA class and i don't think he was familiar with the language because he had difficulties answering pretty much any question that was asked. His test were not based on theory or application but definition of JAVA terms, His labs were pretty easy and the test were open book but it was still confusing. Would not recommend

This is one of the best CSE professors here. Learned a lot about the concepts of Operating Systems in full detail. We do it all from Foks to Seemahfos. Lots of work but if you do them, then you are in good shape.

I actually felt like dropping computer science after having him. Since say one i felt lost in his class. The TA was more help than him by far. Don't get me wrong he seems like a nice guy but i didnt learn anything in his class. But I recommend you stat away from this him.

This was a hybrid class. His lectures were not helpful so I only wen't to a handful of them. The quiz questions come from the book, and the programs were not too hard to complete for labs/homework (hint: use google). However, the test questions on the, midterm, and final(mandatory attendance) were very hard. Obscure questions, and not enough time.

His lectures are pretty solid, but if you don't get it, you're done for. Some of the labs are way too hard, you'll need to do the labs ahead of time. The five homework assignments are also very time consuming. He passes out an attendance sheet, so you gotta come to lecture and lab. He's okay, better than some other CSE professors at least.

Comment:

Very unclear in everything. Provides no instructions during the lab and when is asked for help quickly becomes irritated; that is, of course, if you can catch him before he bolts out of the lab and is gone for most of it. Some of the questions on quizzes are ridiculously hard for the amount of time given. Avoid him.
