Comment:
Beavers is one of the best professors I've had here. He makes sure you understand the material when you show that you're struggling, and he genuinely cares about his students. He's a tough grader, but I think it's because he believes in us enough to know that we can do better than the work than we usually give. 10/10 recommend. Real gem of a human

Anthony Beavers was by far the best professor I've ever had. He engages his students in lecture and provides different viewpoints on relevant topics. I had never taken a course where I found myself wanting to learn so much more outside of class until I took his Philosophy 221 course. Doc is an outstanding professor and I'm grateful for his class.

Most lectures are very interesting although they are a bit lengthy. Somewhat difficult to take notes. Can get off topic at times but always manages to tie it back to the lesson. Overall, very nice and respectable professor.

Lectures were hard to follow and rarely on topic but somehow tied together in the end. He will go in depth on certain topics if you ask specific questions. Talks a lot about his cats which surprisingly gives you very specific examples to explain complicated concepts.

The subject is interesting but can be complicated. Beavers isn't the best lecturer but is interesting to listen to if you aren't going to be tested on it. He talks about his cats alot which was nice.

Very interesting professor & course. I make more references to his class than most I have taken over the years. He goes on hilarious rants about material relevant to the field. We never had any test, just papers. Learned a lot from writing them and it was nice to not worry about the pressure of an exam. Great experience over all!

Comment:
Has difficulty teaching larger classes. He likes to talk about very depressing things. He does not tolerate shyness very well. Though we did not learn much about composing papers, we did learn a lot about editing papers and citing sources. He can be a nice person, though admittedly arrogant. And he will call the entire class stupid.

Very intelligent and is willing to help you if you ask, he teaches by leading you in the direction to find your own answers instead of shoving facts down your throat. You really have to try to succeed (we're in college so I don't know why people get so furious about being challenged by material) but it is a great class. Read the book, just do it.

Dr. Beavers is a fair-minded teacher. He takes great lengths to interests students, but this is not an easy feat when there are students in the class who don't care. If you aren't interested in ideas and actually curious about learning don't take his class. He was moderate in his ideas. He never pushed that one idea, instead explored them with us.

He's brilliant in his field. He is a no-nonsense professor. He doesn't care if you don't, but don't expect to glide through his class and then him help you when you're not expecting to pass. If you show that you care, he'll care. He's actually a really fair professor.

Was not a very good professor. Only presents one side of the issues which is the extremely liberal side of the world. His tests and assignments were unclear on what he actually wanted.

Dr. B's class is the hardest I've taken at UE (and I'm a senior). But it's also the most rewarding and informative. Read the text multiple times, show up to class and offer your opinions frequently, and study. You can't take shortcuts in this class, but it will change every preconceived notion you had about the brain.

Doc is a great prof. Many of the students commenting negatively obviously were the ones not putting forth effort for the class. There is a lot of reading and it can be confusing but he answers all confusion during lecture. He is engaging and brilliant. The students who slacked were obvious to the ones putting for effort.

Good professor. Very knowledgeable. Does a good job explaining complicated material. And for all the people who say he picks favorites; its a correlation that his favorites do well because they are interested in the material which leads them to understanding what he is saying, thus leading to good grades.

Dr. Beavers class is very interesting and made me question a lot of concepts I once thought were simple. It is a challenge, but a well worth one. And Dr. B is a chilipepper.

Dr. Beavers is challenging and interesting. If you do the work and let him wiggle you out of your "box" to better understand complex philosophical concepts, you'll leave this class with a better understanding of the world.
