Tony seems like a nice guy, but his class was pretty rough. He only has 2 exams and a paper assignments and he grades them based on how much of the test or paper are his exact words. His classes are pure lecture and he penalizes pretty harshly for missing class. If you don't do the work exactly how he wants it, you probably won't pass.

He doesn't teach at an introductory level, rather a graduate level. I took hi intro to Ethics course and all we did was do an in-depth analysis of The Republic - basically had to memorize the book in order to understand his test questions, much less get a decent grade. (I'm a PHI minor and have never gotten less than an A in other PHI courses)

Tony gave me more feedback on a single paper than all the feedback on every other paper I've ever written combined. This is fantastic! He pushes you, but in a good way. If you love philosophy, take one of his classes. Just one issue - he's very anal about attendance, and has encouraged students with poor attendance to drop the class. Not cool, man.

I was hesitant to take this. Turns out, it was one of my favorite classes of the semester. Tony is understanding. Yes you have to ("should") read, but to be honest (he mentions this), you could just check them out at the library or find a pdf. Take really GOOD notes, come to class (to take notes) and there's your easy A.

He is a very nice guy but the class is extremely boring. He grades TOO harshly if you ask me. Doesn't give you a grade unless you understand the way he does, although he tells you to just write the way you interpreted it. Had a D all semester but the final got me to a B+! Don't know how but to anyone who takes this course GOODLUCK! You'll need it!

Tony is a good guy, very nice, and he definitely loves teaching his subject. Unfortunately Tony doesn't realize that intro to ethics is not a high level course. He grades you very harshly, even if you think you have a firm grasp of the subject material. As stated by others, he does get so into his lecture he foams at the mouth. Not being mean....

Tony seems like a nice guy, but takes his Intro to Ethics course way too seriously. He enjoys grading very hard. Even though you spent hours trying to understand the material, makes you feel like you know nothing. If you miss a class he will not help you understand what you missed. Avoid taking this class if you want an A.

Intro to Ethics is a terribly uninteresting course, but Tony isn't so bad. You can't understand him sometimes due to his accent, but to pass the class, all you have to do is sit and listen to him. He usually makes it clear what will be on the tests, and if you just read the books and listen, you will make it out of the class with a good grade

Chu is one of the hardest working, and just hardest, professors in the department. He will make you write/read better. He has high expectations and will push you, but he's helpful and available during office hours, and actually cares about students. Seriously challenging, but well worth it if you actually want to learn to do philosophy.

Tony is an awesome teacher and even though his class is very hard if you go to class EVERY DAY and take GOOD notes you will pass his class! He lets you use any notes on his exams and they are all written exams! I learned a lot from Tony about ethics and used it to everyday real world experiences! Tony Rocks! It was a pleasure to be in his class! :)

Professor Chu is the professor for those who want a serious challenge. His courses are designed so that a hard-working student can pass, a lazy student will fail, and an exceptional student will never run out of things to discover. He takes you as deep as you want to go. Some students are not ready to get very deep. They often fail.

Tony's class is rather difficult at times because he can be a bit hard to understand.. but you learn alot. If you read, take notes and simply go to class, you have a high chance of passing. Its neat we can use notes on our tests. It makes you realize how important it is to take good notes. Very understanding.

Tony's class is very hard, but he is absolutely fair. If you go to class, pay attention, and take good notes you can easily pass his tests. They are all ESSAY tests, so be prepared to write a LOT, but you can use your notes! He is a great Prof, and if I were a philosophy major or minor I would take more of his classes!
