WONDERFUL woman who is incredibly knowledgeable about Asian culture. Lectures are so interesting, but she does speak quickly and the class is very fast-paced. Come to class, talk in class, and make sure you keep up with the reading, and you shouldn't have a hard time.

She is very strict on participation and grades harshly on the final exam. She expects you to fully grasp all the complex concepts of Hinduism regardless of background. She calls on people trying to "catch" if they didn't do the assigned reading or watch the assigned lecture. Would not recommend if your have other difficult classes

Pintchman is extremely knowledgeable about Hinduism. Her stories made the class more interesting, and Hinduism was definitely interesting for me to begin with. Having half the lectures online was beneficial for me, but we were assigned readings that just repeated the lecture and often had little more to offer.

Dr. Pintchman expects a lot out of her students. The Hinduism course I was in was a hybrid course - half in person lecture and half online pre-recorded lecture. Not the best way to present material. She looks for details in the reading, on exams/quizzes, and especially on essays. You must read carefully and listen attentively to all materials.

This woman had her class consume my entire life for a semester... and it was taken as an intro class for core credit. No thx.

Pintchman is awesome. She is super intelligent and explains her material very well. She is also very organized so we always know exactly what we need to do for class. I took Intro to Hinduism with her and she really made the subject super interesting. I would definitely recommend taking her class.

CAUTION! Ridiculous amount of work for an intro class. She is not helpful at all. She teaches almost nothing from the textbook she requires and her lectures do not cover in depth the questions she asks for exams.

I enjoyed her as a professor for the most part. The class was difficult, but not impossible, but too few assignments, just 3 tests, 1 paper. Lectures were kind of all over the place, though. Was very willing to help in office hours. Frequently runs over time by several minutes. Not as hard a grader as she says she is.

The class was very interesting and I took a lot out of it. She is a great professor that gives great lectures and lots of reading assignments. You will need to work hard for an A but it is possible.

First year for teaching a UNIV 102 class, she is informative, intelligent, and very engaging with the student body. She knows so much about religions and gives every ounce of his knowledge at every class. Her papers are detailed and require critical thinking to get an A. Overall, helpful and intelligent professor, def. recommend for an intro. class

So incredibly intelligent. Professor Pintchman definitely knows her material, and generally lays it out in a way that is comprehensible. You watch a few movies, but mainly it's straight lecture. The coursepacks are pretty pricey, but if you ask around you're more or less guaranteed to find someone who has them. Definitely worth it.

Wow. I learned so much in this class. Dr. Pintchman is extremely intelligent and wants her students to do well. Only take this class if you want to learn about Hinduism, don't take it just for the credit. I loved this class. Very informative and intersting subject. Lots of reading. Study guide for tests. Be thorough in essays.

Great class and professor. Grade consists of 3 tests all of which were easy (if you did the readings). However, you do have to do the readings (there's kinda a lot) and take good notes in class. Overall, I would definitely recommend Dr. Pintchman.

I would recommend taking a class with this professor. The only suggestion I have to to be VERY throughout when writing essays. The more detail the better and necessary. If you can do this and go to every class you will have no problem getting a good grade in her class.

I really enjoyed her class. I just took it for the religious credit, and now I think I'm going to pick up a minor in religious studies because I loved it so much. There isn't a ton of reading, but the reading is pretty entertaining. She uses couse packets with daily outlines which are great for taking good notes & gives study guides

This class was taken over the summer which means a lot of readings in a very short period of time. Three major exam (1/3 of grade each) - which you DO get a study guide for. If you do the study guides and actually study for a few hours, you should do reasonably well. If you need help, please see Dr. P, she WILL do whatever she can to help.

Took 4 week summer session. Beware! Only writing assignments are 3 major tests, each counting for 1/3rd of your grade. No quizzes + no papers + 2 days max. prep. for each test = poor teacher. The 16 week course sounds better than this nightmare.

Very interesting and passionate teacher! Also extremely helpful and clear. Cares about her students. Beware however - "take home exam" often translates to "12 page paper that you only get a week's notice on."
