He is a great professor that makes you work for the grade. Read the links and go to the tutor he recommends. You will get all the information for tests. Be attentive in class and do not use your phone. Like any professor, he does not like it. He is very opposed and can come across rude but why take it personally. If you agree with him he will like

I have taken several classes with Dr. Ricketts. He is probably the most fair professor I have taken at Bryan. If you back up for point of view with substance and proof, you will make a good grade. He isn't easy, but you will learn more from him than most. He assigns a fair work load and if you work hard you will be fine.

His lectures are very informative. The work load is very fair, However he has very few grades in his class making it hard to recover from a bad test/paper.

He does not care about your opinion. He only cares about what he thinks is right. He is very condescending. I am taking a 6 week course with him and he is giving way too much homework and quizzes for a 6 week course. Would not recommend unless you don't care about having an opinion.

I've taken both of his online US history courses, and I haven't really found too much wrong with them. Once in a while, he would have unclearmisspelled sections in his notes, but otherwise he was a fairly good professor. I wouldn't say he was easy, but he was definitely fair. I could not recommend him if you politically identify as a liberal.

just read and agree with him in the online forums. ask him a question or two and he will love you. repeat what he tells you in a response to others and your grade is sealed at an a. good forums but there was no challenge. the class was boring and not worth the money. the grade came cheaply and with little to no effort.

He is very knowledgeable in history. It is nice to have someone teaching a class they actually know the information not just a textbook. It is not easy but if you want to learn he is the professor to have.

Vomit what he tells you and get an A, think for yourself and get a D. He just reads his lecture notes and goes through his powerpoints. take notes, meet with his TA and get an A. Suffer through it and get crowns in heaven!

I'm pretty sure this is the only class on campus you can sleep through and still pass with flying colors. It is VERY easy and VERY boring. But hey it is less work than either Western Civ. class so I'm happy about that. The celebrations of knowledge are simple and the book reviews are so high school.

not a fun class and not hard at all. rather tiresome opinions. all lecture as he hates questions from student. do as you are told and get an a. his powerpoints are useless and they never match what he is saying. his workstudy brags about creating the celebrations of knowledge. just book a slot with her at the asc and you are good.

Simple: just repeat what he tells you and you will get an A in his class. If you disagree with him the lowest grade you will get is a C. He does not fail people. His papers are only two pages long--not that hard for a college course. Just tell him you were homeschooled and you'll be in.

I was in Dr.Ricketts western civ class and he made it so enjoyable! He is a hard teacher but he is fair. His classes are directly based on your own work level in his classes. He does a great job of introducing subjects with enthusiasm, though his favorite things to teach are wars.

You absolutely have to listen and take detailed notes in his classes because the tests are based largely upon his lectures. However, you will learn a ton in his classes and have lots of fun. I took his western civ and a number of upper level courses from him, and they were all excellent.

U.S. History II. Dr. Ricketts is by no means an easy professor, but your grade in his class is the most directly proportionate of any Bryan class to how much work you put in. You can succeed if you study. His sarcastic sense of humor is always fun. Can come off as more distant, but if you make an effort to get to know him, he's an amazing friend.

I felt that he did not care if his students passed or failed. His test was over things he did not mention in class and overwhelming. For his teaching method, he would lecture the whole class time with little interaction from the students and leave you on your own.

His tests had stuff that wasn't covered in class. He went into detail on random things that didn't have anything to do with the lesson. He was rude and made it clear that he didn't care if we passed or failed.
