Wonderful prof. She was even nominated for an Excellence award during my class. My course was online, and she graded well, and emailed us updates. Not a ton of class discussion, and there was only ever one assignment due each week (a paper), alongside a few tests and a lot of reading. Highly recommended!

Professor Haskins is easily one of the best teachers Ive ever had and definitely the best college professor Ive had so far. Shes very passionate about anthropology, especially Archaeology and Physical Anthropology. Shes a fair grader, and her lectures are entertaining and in no way dull. Do the quizzes, take good notes, and read and youll pass

Amazing human and great professor. Awesome to take classes from someone who is in the fields you're interested in instead of someone who just knows things from books; she has actually lived it! And you hear about her stories of caving and excavating sites all over the world! Also international trips with an awesome person!

She's the sweetest! There's a lot of learning and reading but she's always answering questions! Participation in our class is what made it great. She even got emotional at the end of the semester. Sad that I won't be able to take another class with her. If you like to learn and don't mind putting in the work I highly recommend! She loves teaching.

It's clear that she is passionate not only about teaching, but about what she is teaching too. The class was simple: read the textbook (get it ASAP), take the online quizzes (which you can retake until you get a 100%) and take good notes because tests are open notebook. Do the extra credit if she offers it. It changed my grade from a B- to an A.

Professor Haskins has been one of the most caring professors I've had at ACC. Yes, it is essential that you show up to pass... and yes, you really need to take notes. She lets you use your hand written notes on exams! Helpful tip: copy down ALL of the vocab definitions in your notes from each chapter... they contain a lot of the test answers!

You need the book. The lectures only touch at a surface level and you can't rely on them to pass. You might be able to eek out a B without reading the book if this stuff comes naturally to you. Funny and good lecturer though. Nice and willing to help

I took this class for HRD she's very sweet and helpful. Prof Haskins is straightforward on what she expects of you. Ask questions and she will give you the answer. Always attend class -she makes it to every single class, and expects the same from you!

Prof. Haskins has a clear love for archaeology and her stories are amazing. The tests are open note, but very detailed. There may be a question on a specific example that was annotated in the ch. She was kind and gave credit where it was due. Overall fair class and good professor- not a class to take advantage of for an easy A, but not the hardest.

Took Prof Haskins with an online course. She had a lot of difficulty getting it to load properly. Time frames were constantly being changed & with working full time & not knowing that she changed due dates led to late assignments or missing work. I know she is a master in her field but I would not recommend her for an online course.

Val is one of the best Professors ever. She is an expert in her field, and she truly wants to harbor the interest of her students and help them succeed in college, not just her own classes. That being said- she's a quality educator, and as such, she expects quality work. READ THE BOOK BEFORE LECTURE. Tests are open notes, so take good ones!

Cultural Anthropology wasn't easy to start out with, on top of that she gave out about 4 hours of homework every week (at least that's what it took me). The there were online test that were a pain because you had to do the practice test AND the actual test for a grade.
