I had this teacher for German class. And she was fantastic. Homework is every day and the class is so challenging at first. But by the end of the semester, it's actually a joy to go to. She is extremely charismatic and that makes it a bit better. She isn't what you would expect, but she's a great, challenging teacher.

I loved her for this class! She loves the subject, and that makes the class so much more enjoyable. Exams are pretty easy compared to other CH profs. Essay questions are easy to answer. I really enjoyed this class. I wish that she taught 203 as well.

Loved it. She was always so prepared adn so willing to answer questions. She rarely ended late, but never ended early. She loves getting the students involved, especially when interpretting art, but you can sit and listen if you want. You better go though, or she will dock your grade.

its a pretty cool class..the lectures are kind of boring and she always goes over time..there is also a lot of reading, but sometimes you can get away with not reading it...

This class was a waste of time. There was too much busy work. Weekly papers and too much readinng. She is a nice professor-seems like she should be teaching high school. But just becareful on who your discussion leader is--they will be the ones determining your grade. Other than that I really got nothing out of the class...a big waste of time/money

She makes CH somewhat interestng. It is apparent that she knows a lot about the subject. Lectures are mandatory which is a bummer, but at least they don't make you fall asleep. Easy to do other homework while in lecture. Tests are fair & she gives adequate study guides. Paper topics are often not good, but grading depends on discussion leader

Wonderful teacher! In her lectures, she is very clear and shows enthusaism in the class. If you meet with her in her office hours, she is very helpful and encourages you with the readings. She is also very friendly. She also recommended a CH 203 instructor, which was very considerate of her. I would never have said this, but I enjoyed her class.

Lets face it, CH sucks. But, at least Valerie Weinstein makes it suck less. While I fell asleep often, when I was awake, I learned alot. Just remember that when it comes to CH, it is all about who your discussion group leader is. Try and get a good leader.

Can't avoid her if you're majoring or minoring in German. She is a bit odd, but you can get what you need out of her class. Very no-nonsense personality in a small, attractive package. Dresses well. Slight Napolean complex.
