I hate science and I loved Vesnas course! Her obvious passion for astronomy shows in her lectures, which can get a little dry but she does a good job of keeping it interesting. The concepts/tests are pretty easy to understand with minimal studying. Great class for a non-science student to fill a requirement.

Comment:

Very funny during lectures and clearly outlines what is important for the test. Lots of review questions to help you study. Powerpoints can get overwhelming since they are so long but she tells you the important slides if you show up.

If I wasn't so terrible at math I would have majored in physics just so I could take more classes with her. She's really wonderful at explaining complex concepts in a simple straight-forward manner. Hilarious, down to earth, and cares about her students. Her lectures were entertaining and humorous while still very educational. One of the best!

Vesna is fun and truly cares about her students. Her lectures are full of videos and slides that explain concepts in the easiest possible way. I'm terrible with anything to do with science, but with Vesna that was a lot easier!

Comment:

Took this to fill my science credit. Vesna is so sweet and hilarious. Class does get a little boring but it's pretty short. My only complaint is that she posts so much review, and 90% of it is not even on the midterms so you prepare for nothing. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK. It's expensive and she even says it's useless. Just pay attention and do good!!

She lets you know what will be tested. She gave 4 multiple choice exams and helped students answer exam questions. Her goal was to get us to understand ideas, with little memorization. Math not required in this course. All power points and PDFs were available online. She has a great sense of humor and made this class very enjoyable.

Comment:

Prof Vesna is so sweet and also has a sense of humour that makes class more interesting. Lots of in-class videos, making concepts easy to remember. Astro can get a little difficult with foreign vocabulary but the concepts are simply put and the class is an easy A as long as you don't leave studying to the last minute. Ask questions during tests!

Lectures are 2 broad & disorganized- skips over important slides & doesn't prepare you for multiple choice tests. Slides are also extremely time consuming. Test q's do not reflect her lectures at all, which she encourages as a primary study tool. Get ready to guess a lot of answers, as she does offer help during tests but lines are way too long.

This woman made me, a business student, passionate about science. She developed a course specifically to help people who have to have a science credit learn as much as possible in matters that are applicable to everyone. She's a blessing we don't deserve. She makes complex concepts simple and even taking her course online I love her teaching.

Such an awesome prof!! Adorable and funny and really wants students to do well. Taking this for my science credit and is classically my worst subject, but she makes the subject lighter than any other prof would. If you're good at tests, which I am not, you'll do great.

Vesna is the best/most caring professor I have had in 5 years at the U of W. She takes time to ensure each students success and generally wants everyone to do well! Very different from other profs who want you to fail. If you have any chance to take a class with her, do it you won't regret it. Makes tough scientific concepts a breeze.

Favourite class taken during my first year! She definitely made a not-so-easy subject in general a breeze to understand and enjoy! Perfect as a science credit for an arts student because VERY basic science concepts are explained in detail; or an easy A for a science student looking for an elective. LOVED HER and her approach to teaching astronomy

Vesna is awesome, I took Astronomy my first year and she is still one of my favourite profs three years later. All tests and exams are multiple choice and if you don't know the answer, you can ask her during the exam and she will tell you what to answer!

She taught the first half of concepts in science and really made the class fun. Lectured in a way similar to High School, lots of videos and demonstrations. When I did come to class I had a good time. Easy to follow lectures and everything is posted online, textbook is unnecessary. Exams all multiple choice.

One of my favourite profs in UWinnipeg. She is hilarious and keeps the class engage. She does go off in tangents, but she does mean well. She marks off what slides of the ppt to know and what not to know. This is super helpful for the exams, which makes it an easy A course.
