Victor is a super nice person, but did not make a freshman seminar class interesting or valuable enough for it to be worth taking. He worked too hard to be relatable and not hard enough on providing useful information for new freshmen. Expect to receive almost no feedback until you get your semester grade and papers that provide no practical use.

He's super funny and is a pretty good teacher but the content is hard to grasp unless you have a strong interest in history. He doesn't take attendance but you'd be a fool to miss class. He pretty much just talks about the content, often times with no slides, and you just take notes on whatever he says. The term paper is also the worst.

Worst prof ever. Lecture heavy classes with 12 point font on the slides, non-interesting material and mandatory attendance. Very unwilling to help and interact with students. Very intimidating and rude. Too much work for a gen ed, do not take.

Lecture is really boring, and he gives a lot of information quickly so it can be difficult to keep up. It's probably better to take notes by laptop if you want to get as much information down as possible. It's clear he's very knowledgable on the subject though. He is very intimidating at first, but becomes less so over time.

I took HIS 102 online as a summer course. 1 vocab homework assignment and a 3-5 page paper per week, along with a lot of reading. Dr. Macias-Gonzalez is very clear on his expectations and gives great feedback. As long as you have college level reading and writing skills, I would recommend taking his class.

Professor made me write and entire three page essay because I didn't use there crappy provided material. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVEN'T BEEN FIRED.

Dr. Macias-Gonzalez is a very intimidating person at first, however once the semester goes on you can see he has a good sense of humor and he really wants the best for his students. The class itself is a lot of work. One midterm essay, 16 page term paper group project, take home final essay and in class final. Decent professor, boring subject.

Dr. Macias-Gonzalez is a great professor who wants you to learn and succeed in his class. He helps you get the best possible grade by returning papers for you to revise until you get an A. The lectures are long and can be boring but his knowledge for the subject makes them interesting.

Dr. Macias-Gonzalez is really funny. He makes a lot of jokes throughout his lectures but they still end up to be heavy. He recognizes once in a while when he goes too fast and slows down for a discussion but then he expects the whole class to participate. His grading is very straightforward and he gives good feedback on essays and allows revision.

Dr. Macias-Gonzalez is intimidating, but once you conversate with him, he is helpful and really funny. His lectures are heavy and can be lengthy, but he throws in a joke here and there. You do have to read quite a bit, but he gives you studying tips if needed. Take him if you don't mind being pushed a bit out of your comfort-zone.

He is an intimidating person but is funny and wants you to do well in class. Gives opportunities to submit papers late and to redo papers for better grades.

Most intimidating professor that I have ever had which made it really difficult for me to approach him with questions and/or clarification. Every class period, you sit there and listen to him talk and it gets extremely boring. He does care about his students but I didn't have the chance to build a relationship because he was very intimidating.

I took him online during the summer. I had four papers, and he let us redo two of them. Each paper took me several hours, and I did have to use the textbook. It was a good SUMMER course though because it was one paper a week with one vocab homework assignment. He is super nice if you get to know him. He emailed me back with emojis once.

Dr. Macias- Gonzalez was a great professor! He definitively cares about you as a student and wants you to succeed in class! If you send him an understanding email about an extension he is willing to work with you. His lectures do tend to be very heavy and you must read in order to help you write your essays but overall easy grader and awesome prof

I was terrified when I began this class, because I was very intimidated by Dr. Macias-Gonzalez. However, I ended up really enjoying the class, because he is truly brilliant and also very funny. He has high expectations, but I really appreciated how much he cared and he is very clear about his expectations. Overall, he's an amazing professor.

He is very strict, but as long as you follow his rules/guidelines he won't have anything against you. He can be pretty funny, but he isn't afraid to yell or call you out in front of the class for something. He assigns very few grades, so you need to make sure you don't screw them up.

The first impression of Dr. Macias was very intimidating. I was worried his class would be difficult for a Gen-Ed. But as the class goes on, you realize that he has a good sense of dry-humor and gives you opportunities for a good grade. He's not very approachable but you can always send him an email with questions.

I took this class over J-term, and it was pretty easy. Weekly terms to define with one paper a week for three weeks. Most everything is an A.
