He repeats facts that will be on the tests; pay attention! Used clickers, but attendance doesn't contribute to grade. His tests are basically his way of seeing if you read the assigned articles or not, w specific questions. 5 exams, non cumulative, easy. 1 textbook. Beginning of the course was focused on sex/gender. laugh at his dad jokes!

GO TO CLASS AND PAY ATTENTION. Good professor overall, pretty funny, but lectures are somewhat unorganized and specific things from the lectures are on the test word-for-word. Includes questions on the tests that start with "According to Dr. Perez..." and expects specifics to be remembered. Study for the tests and take good notes!

I took this class as what seemed like an easy A for a breadth requirement. To my amazement, Victor Perez always does a great job at leaving students unprepared for exams. You need to listen to literally every word he says if you want to do remotely well on his exams, 75% of the questions on exams say "As we discussed in class...". Easy A? Not here.

Dr. Perez is a good teacher, I feel like I actually learned a great deal from the class. However, it you're looking for an "easy A" this class is not for you. Take the other professor.

Perez is a solid professor. He knows what he's talking about and he's very passionate about sociology. For a breadth course, it wasn't too bad, not that much effort put in and got a decent grade. Definitely have to show up to class, since he puts up "shell slides" and doesn't do course capture.

In my opinion Perez comes off a little full of himself. However, he is still a good teacher. You need the book for the course and be prepared to be asked questions about it. He does use a clicker for attendance but there are also notes given in class that he won't share online so you have to show up. Overall not a class to worry about, very average

The course is four exams and four open-ended online submissions. The open-ended assignments are super easy and assigned way in advance but if you don't submit on time you don't get any credit and can really kill your grade. The exams aren't hard just take notes on the shell slides. Doctor Perez is really great don't be afraid to ask questions.

THIS MAN DESERVES A 5.0 RATING!!! i really loved taking SOCI201 with him and wish I could have him every semester!! while attendance is not mandatory you NEED to go to class to do well because all notes are given in class and its the only way you'll pass. Show up, pay attention enough to copy the notes, and you'll get an A :)

I'm a Sociology major and seeing Dr. Perez so passionate every class keeps me going. His exams aren't hard but they're not easy either. As long as you attend class, understand the material, and remember certain statistics, you'll pass. It's very easy to understand him as he's teaching and he repeats the important stuff. It's hard to lose focus.

Great professor stuck in a bad class. Probably better if youre a soc major but I took it as a gen ed and struggled the whole semester. His tests are really specific and the topics are utterly random.

I highly recommend this class. Perez is obviously very passionate about sociology and the class is very engaging. You really need to go to class and make sure you take notes to do well. I would always just fill out the study guides he makes and the tests would be very fair. Not hard to get an A, take him!!!!!

90% of your grade is the exams. however the exams are decently easy. KNOW THE STATS HE GIVES YOU!!!!!! He is a pretty good lecturer but they can get kind of boring sometimes. You can tell he is very passionate about the course. Do the readings and study a few days before and you'll be fine. would def recommend if you have to take this course.

Take Professor Perez! He is such a great teacher and he's super cool. He just really enjoys teaching sociology. In his class, you're graded on four exams (one of which is the "final", but it's NOT cumulative, it's just a normal fourth exam) and then four critical thinking questions (worth 5 points, SUPER easy). I HIGHLY recommend taking him.

Great speaker but it gets old. His tests are all multiple choice, however each question is about a paragraph in length and can be as specific as "What was the sentence I read in the third class from the book by Mills" If there are better are options , avoid this class like the plague.

Really enjoyed this class, only thing is that it is hard to get an A because you are graded on few assignment. The exams are not cumulative, but 90% of your grade is the exams, so prepare to study hard. The exams can be tricky because there is a lot of specific facts, but all multiple choice. Come to class, even though its not mandatory.

Professor Perez was a great professor. It's an easy A if you show up to class (& actually pay attention), skim the readings, generally know the stuff on the study guide (KNOW ALL THE STATS HE GIVES YOU- you'll thank me later) & submit the few assignments on time. A basic college class and nothing too challenging if you pay attention & notes.

Dr. Perez ranks pretty high on the professor scale. Lectures cover material that is thought-provoking and relatable. No agenda is forced on students, but rather a fascination with the current developments in today's society. The course is very much exam-based in grading (90%), but the exams are pretty standard in terms of difficulty. Worthwhile.
