The whole course was decided by very few items and tests were extremely difficult. He does not respond to emails, but at the end of the semester he sent one out to us. It went along the lines of "Don't bother emailing me about grades. What you get is what you get. I won't be responding." Wow...

His reviews are kind of all over the place but honestly his online correctional class was based off of 3 exams and one 5 page paper on a correction issue in America. It was easy in the sense that there was not much to do it was straight forward but google won't help on his tests. You need to have skimmed and search the text while taking the test

We had about 3-4 exams. 1 paper. 1 individual assignment. Book is needed if you want to use on the exam and it is needed if you want to do the assignment. What I dont like is his grading is A-F scale no room for A- or B+. If you miss ONE of the requirements above you will only get a D in the class.

Professor Shaw takes advantage of the fact that he works in a large university with little oversight. He posts some grades to Canvas but then refuses to respond to email requests for the ones missing. His lectures are boring. He shows up late. He doesn't care. He thinks he is more important than the students he teaches. An awful experience.

Great class, professor was just fine the material was not mind blowing or difficult to understand. yet many students wouldn't take him serious bc he has a slight accent which one can understand. class based off of 3 exams, one group project and one 5 page essay. only took attendance 1/week. pretty easy class.

The professor doesn't not communicate when needed. Also when you ask for help he does not help you and has you just figure it out on your own. I would not recommend having him as a professor.

Online class was the way to go. 4 exams, 3 of them quizlet is helpful with. The last one is based on his own book that you will have to read in order to do well. Questions came right out of the book. One 5 page essay that must be at a low percent for turnitin. This class was easy for me and made up for the other 3 difficult classes I was taking.

Prof. Shaw is hard to understand in his lectures. Going to class is a large part of your grade. Both books are online so that's a bonus. However, he is not very understanding. Class is sooo boring but it's easy to do well on tests and papers if you "use your resources." Doesn't lecture on anything that will be on the tests. My first college C :(

You must read the book for this class. He has 3 exams, about 8-10 chapters each with NO study guide! He's cool but he does have a strong accent. His exams are online but you won't find the answers on google, based 100% on the book. Has sign in sheet for every class & assigns a 10 page essay with 2 group assignments. I don't recommend this teacher.

I definitely like this professor and would take him again. His required textbook is useful because after every chapter there is a worksheet you can do. He takes attendance, and is sometimes a few minutes late. I think his lectures are on subject and he is not monotone. He is very animated and easier to understand after first week. Tests is online

4 exams all online (3 you can find on Quizlet & 1 based on his book), a 5 page paper (he lessened the number of pages this semester, idk if he'll keep it that way), 2 group video presentations (pretty pointless but whatever), and he has an attendance sheet. I don't feel like I learned anything. No lectures on Mondays. Only Wednesdays.

Prof. Shaw is clear and breaks things down so we can understand it. He explains theories and theorists in such simple terms. Two books required the one he wrote (can get it for free PDF online from the library) and deviant behaviors. 3 test and final (all on quizlet). One ten page paper (easier than it sounds) and two group presentations.

Sociology 304 was interesting but wish I wouldn't of taken it with shaw. He was hard to understand and his grades were only posted at the end. He gives you lots of time to do the test there's a video group project and a 10 page paper. Honestly wish paper was shorter.

Took his online class. 4 exams multiple choice 50questions. He gives 3 hours to take the exams, so that is helpful. You need the book and can easily find the answers during exam. final is a 10 page paper.

A very straightforward class - everything is based off the textbooks required and off outlines the professor posts for each chapter, which are good to go over before the exams! If you have questions or concerns (especially for the paper) the professor will definitely help, take advantage of office hours!! There are 4 exams and a 10 pg. paper.

Despite what has been said, Professor Shaw goes over everything you need to know and is very helpful if you get confused. Took him over the summer and made sure the entire class was on the same page before moving on. He was very understanding and I truly believe he just wants to help his students succeed. Great Professor!

do not recommend this professor. Run if you can and take this class with someone else. He is the worse person to teach. he did not reply to my emails and force you to buy his book as he has a final from it.

Took this over summer, we had a 5 & a 10 pg paper due on the last day a presentation during the course & 3 open book/note/laptop essay exams. He lectures on the potential questions on each exam so you know EXACTLY what will be on the exams. Its not hard if you show up,I would recommend to take him during summer since it seems easier.
