Easy and fair true/false and multiple choice exams if you have been keeping up with things and doing the readings and homework. She prepares you well with a review sheet. Great sense of humor and the classes are laid back.I recommend

An awesome professor who makes you see things from all different views. Make sure you do the assigned readings and participate in class and her 3 take home exams will be easy. She doesn't like lazy people at all and if you don't do the work, the exams will be difficult. I would recommend anyone to take her!

I definetly recommend Prof Carty, especially for any intro course. She knows her stuff and she makes class fun instead of simply lecturing every day. Little to no homework or notes. You watch a lot of movies too. And shes a very "interesting" person

Dr. Carty is a breath of fresh air on this campus. Not your usual professor at NU. She looks at things from all different anlges and makes you think. You will defineitly learn alot from her. But, she is a hard grader too, so do your work or she will stick it to you.

dr. carty can make any class interesting, even theories. i am not even a soc major and thought the class would be painful, but it was really interesting. had her for soc 101 and that was kickback. theories is much harder, lots of reading and writing, but you get a brand new perspectaive on how the world actually works. i higly recommend any cla

Prof. Carty was one of the most stimulating and challenging teachers I came across at NU. In all of her classes she promoted individual thinking and creative outlets for discussing topics rather than just lecturing. She made class interesting, encouraged group discussion/debates, and also supported many student activities, such as peace protests.

One ridiculously uninformed woman. Her scewed views on the world are a detriment to all pursuing a higher education. By far the worst teacher in all my years of schooling. It is unclear as to what sane indivdual would give this communistitic woman a degree of any sort, including high school.

nice lady, confusing true/false on tests. says she'll let you argue your grade but shes always right. dont accomplish anything in class but you get to watch good movies and she didnt show up alot for my class. lots of reading but you can manage a B without doing it if you do extra credit.
