Miller is a genuinely nice guy and it's obvious he knows what he's talking about. BUT he is extremely unorganized and often rambles. Expect to fall very far behind schedule and have very messy notes. Overall the class was very easy. I hardly did any of the readings, because he assigned way too much, but I still got an A.

Comment:
His lectures are all over the place, and he expects you to do more reading than is really practical. Exams are fair, though, if you've somehow managed to learn the material from his rambling, scatterbrained style that quickly ends up behind the outline. He's pretty nice, however.

Vincent Miller thinks that rumspringa is going to end and at the end of the semester we will all go back to being Amish.

Religion and globalization class: nice guy, big ideas, but he had a really hard time putting them together and making them clear to students. Obviously very smart, but it's not very useful when you don't understand what he is saying. Course felt very fragmented.

Teaches a hard class and lectures can be uncohesive, but he knows what he's talking about; do the work and reading and you'll learn a lot

Homeslice cannot teach for his life. He talks funny and does not answer questions. Dude is the definition of unhelpful. No reviews for tests, don't even think about that. A different reading each night, hardly enough time to discuss, let alone ask questions. Waste of time.

Terrible class. His lectures are poorly delivered, hard to follow, and just plain boring. One paper, a midterm, and a take home final.

Religion and Consumer Culture is one of the best classes I've ever taken. Miller is brilliant and funny and teaches a theology class that is actually applicable to real life. He's definitely scatterbrained but it's more endearing than annoying. The reading isn't too intense and most of the grade is based on free responses and participation.

Interesting course in theory, but lectures are not very well organized or delivered. If you go to class and study hard, you will do fine on the tests, but you will probably dread going to class, especially if you are tired.

I feel the class was a waste of time; I learned nothing. The readings and lectures were boring, it was easy to fall asleep, and I felt no points were being raised. I was disappointed by the class.

If you are willing to put in the effort, a great class. He conveys his strong (and to me, valid) viewpoints convincingly, but without forcing it upon students. He obviously cares, which is refreshing and not by any means a given with professors. A great preparatory class for grad school. Take it

Great teacher. Made you want to read. Willing to discuss controversial topics to make things exciting. Might benefit from changing up class structure sometimes (a video, etc). Showed true concern for students like most theology teachers don't
