Comment:
Schneidman is hard to follow in lectures don't get me wrong. Can't blame him, he's old and shakes a lot when he writes. However, at this age he goes out of his way for students. He wants you to succeed. Talk to him in recitation one on one and he explains everything to the tee like a true intellect. I am grateful to have such a caring professor.

Extremely intelligent and passionate about physics. However, his passion for it doesn't grant him a keen ability to teach it. He only uses online notes, which you can print and review from. He's accessible and does well one-on-one. He's VERY hard to follow in lectures. He's purely THEORY and doesn't show you HOW to do physics. Not inspiring at all.

Taken Fall 2015. Very dry lectures, but if you seek him out he is very helpful. He speaks deliberately and softly, so sit as close to him as you can. Recitation is a big help, as he maps out problems for you. You can do infinitely worse with other 111 teachers, and he at least makes it palatable.

He's very intelligent and knows what he is talking about, but his lectures are very dry. He almost never gives specific examples and usually just gives the formulas. If you can stay awake during his class, passing shouldn't be much of a problem.

It is extremely easy to fall asleep in that class, find a better prof than him if you can otherwise you will have no motivation to study an already boring subject. I blowed off the online HW because Mastering Physics is a terrible website, but I would do other practice problems from the book.

He is pretty bad, and doesn't explain how to do problems that well. Alot of people struggle with him but i got more out of the physics review session than him.

He talks theory so you may need to ask some circumstantial questions or hw problems. You can visit his office hours if you don't want to feel like you're always interrupting class. Practice the past exams and his online notes will help, let him know that you need help and he will reach out to you. Otherwise, expect to fall asleep during lectures.

He can be difficult to understand but if you as the student do your job to try and understand you will learn something. If you ask for help on tough problems he will explain them to you. If you don't learn during class, ask lots of questions in recitation and he will help you. Great guy.

BEWARE ACCENT AND LOW VOICE. Lectures feel like an eternity, bring a pillow. group quizzes once week and online hw, only reason why i passed. Between the hw that had every answer online and friends who also took the course vitaly was very little help to me. Would not take again. AVOID IF POSSIBLE.

Overall ok Professor. As a person, he is very genuine and levelheaded. As a professor, he goes through mainly theory and derivations. Make sure you read over the textbook and get your hands on practice exams, it'll probably be the means to pass the class. Gives massive ec to honors section!

For starters you WILL get used to his accent after awhile. Barely comprehensible at first and his lectures are long however the lecture notes he provides were very helpful I don't know crap about physics and I've managed to get B's on the exams. There's so much extra credit. All multiple choice and an equation sheet with EVERYTHING Easy A you try

It was hard to understand him at first. He does know what he is doing. After a couple of weeks you can get comfortable with the accent. His lectures are long and boring.

Funny guy. I knew the information before going into the class but his exams are extremely easy. Honors section has no open ended questions, all multiple choice and there are about 3 extra credit questions per exam. I got a 3 on the AP physics and that knowledge from a year ago was enough to get an A+

Very likable and tries to make the class fun by cracking jokes. Will answer all your questions in recitations. Really knows his physics but it's kind of hard to pay attention in class. Go to the exam reviews Janow has and the class becomes a relatively easy A.

Impossible to pay attention in class. Even if you do, the class is spent on tedioud derivations that are in the book anyway. Recitation is you doing a worksheet with questions not like the exam. Despite this, he allows you to fix your grade at the end based on your final. Look at alternatives, the text will be your method of learning.

He's not as bad as ppl say or you'll think during the start of the semester. Exams are on the easy side, and VERY fair. lots of ec problems and theres forgiveness policy at the end. Its true taying up during lecture is a hard and attendance is mandatory, but he tries to be funny by throwing in jokes here and there. Book isn't required and useless!

Great professor, Don't miss the recitation because that's when he goes over the hw in so much detail that the hw does itself.
