I took Professor Silvestri about two years ago, when I was at FGCU. His teaching strategy is particularly different than most professors; I'd say it's old school, but in a good way. He teaches you the information in a way that you can apply it to your future. He inspired me to apply to grad school at Emerson College for Comm. Dis, so excited!!!

Silvestri cares about his students, but unfortunately doesn't know how to keep a schedule running. Most kids put off their speeches so we all presented our last one after our final exam. His exams are hard because when he lectures he talks about Abraham Lincoln and cavemen instead of the material in the book. His grading scale is terrible.

This class made me stress too much f or being Public Speaking! Silvestri is very unclear about what he wants and his tests are very long and handwritten (you would expect the test to be speeches). Everything on the test you have to read yourself because he doesn't cover ANY of it in class. I would not recommend him at all!

Worst professor ever. He is completely oblivious to his own assignments and we spend every class doing speeches that had nothing to do with the exams. Pretty much the most unorganized professor I've ever had. He also grades weird. My grade was a 93% but he gave me a B in comparison to the highest grade in the class. Don't take him

-Unorganized -Not specific with his assignments therefor takes a large amount of points off. -Impatient -Heard the test is super hard & it makes up a good chunk of your overall grade -Does not teach anything in class then expects you to be prepared for the tests. (Assigns readings each week but never talks about them)

Silvestri is super nice and really cares if you learn how to deliver a speech. He gave 2 exams, midterm and final, both are super hard considering he doesn't really go over the information in class. We had 4 speeches all of which are easy if you prepare yourself. Overall I loved the class and though the tests were hard they're not impossible.

Professor Silvestri is the nicest professor and creates a comfortable environment for public speaking. He makes you engaged and want to succeed in presenting your speeches. Beware of the exams he gives though they are lengthy and it's rarely covered in class, so they are pretty difficult. Other than that speeches are really easy and its a good clas

One of the best professors I've had at FGCU. Public speaking used to disable me completely. Now I look forward to speaking events by using the tools SIlvestri taught me. Give your all to this class and you will not be disappointed.

Old fashioned, and can be really boring but he is a super nice guy. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He tends to get of track a lot. He grades the speeches super easy, but the written parts are graded more harshly. Definitely would recommend him if you aren't great at Public speaking!

Wow. First day of class he makes sure that everyone knows how to pronounce you name, and if it's an interesting name he'll spell it out on the board phonetically. Take him he's cool but very old fashion.
