Wade is not a doctor, nor is he amazing. Wait, no, I think he actually told me that he is amazing, and high ranked with god. master's is in divinity. so he is black and white...and a major asshat. everyone in my class hates this guy. our whole class would get into fights with him, jointly.

I got a high A on Every test and a C on every "case study". That's a HUGE discrepancy. There is no middle ground with Wade (aka God according to him). He is the Supreme Ruler on the subjectivity of the DSM-of which all of your papers are based. Not worth the frustration. Attendance is worth 20% including your quizzes. NOT reccomended!!!

this was a great class and Dr. Arnold was a terrific professor. Anyone complaining about the courseload is just lazy. It's not an "easy" A but it certainly isn't hard at all to get an A in the class. Dr. Arnold is also very understanding and willing to help you out if you just ask. One of the best psych classes out there!

I thought the class was great. I had lots of fun, his lectures were engaging and he is very funny. The tests were straight out of the book (easy) plus he allows 10 points extra credit for each test! You can get 5 out of 55 wrong and still get a 100! The papers were tough but if you talked to him about it he was eager to help. Great professor.

Five 2.5 page papers = graded VERY harshly, but they're graded mostly by the TA. I went to Arnold to discuss a paper or two, and got several points added on, which eventually allowed me to BARELY get an A in the class. Moderate studying is required for each test, and you must be prepared every lecture for a pop quiz. Nice guy, average teacher.

This class was harder than other abnormal psych classes. He grades the papers really hard and the lectures come straight from your book. There are also 10 pop quizzes and he counts all of them! Even if you miss class with a valid excuse such as a doctors apt he does not allow you to make up the quiz. That's crap!

The tests are easy enough, but the case studies and lit review are impossible and graded very subjectively. I ended up with a B+ in the class because of the low grades I got in the papers. Makes the class harder than it is supposed to be. Take it with another professor.

Seems like he used to be a more lenient professor according to older reviews. NOT ANYMORE. 5 2 1/2 pg papers, and the class is not Gordon Rule. Tests are hard, 10 pop quizzes, and he grades the papers way too hard. Take it with someone else.

pop quizzes are harder than they need to be and are a means of encouraging attendance. Notes from class don't factor in on the exam as much as they should. Read the book and you'll be fine. If you want a grade booster, take another class. The papers and or quizzes can kill you.

This guy thinks he is the supreme court ruler of what is right and what is wrong according to the DSM-IV. He will not budge once he has made a poor, subjective decision. His ego is bigger than Mt. Everest. There is no common ground with this guy. He uses his religion to justify his right to not listen to students' reasoning. ****

His tests are ridiculously difficult, no matter how much you study for them. The 5 papers are graded harshly, which is unfair because the expectations aren't clear. Take with another professor if you take this class. The class is more work than it needs to be...and he isn't very understanding.

I heard people say that abnormal psychology was their favorite psych class- let's just say that i'm not a fan. Pop quizzes, 4 case study papers, hard tests that I still haven't gotten the hang of. AND I don't like how get handed assignments without clear directions until AFTER you turn in your paper cause that's just not nice.

This was supposedly one of the best psych classes, and after having it with WA I beg to differ. The assigned papers (with unclear guidelines) were graded far too harshly. His notes are straight from the book, and even studying them, reading AND doing the companion CD quizzes doesn't cover what you'll need to know. Take it with someone else.

Wades a nice guy, but the class is a lot of work, and difficult get ahead. There are 10 pop quizes, 4 movie case studies, a literature review, and 3 exams. You do not learn diagnoses that apply to the movie until weeks after you hand in the paper making them difficult. Tests are tricky as well. He's a challenge.

No question, Wade Arnold is the best professor I have ever had so far. He is a really great guy who genuinely cares about his students and wants to help you as much as possible. If more professors cared about their students as much as he does, college wouldn't be as stressful.

Wade is awesome. Abnormal is a very interesting class and the tests aren't so bad b/c he usually adds a few points to each of them. Most of the class ends up getting A's and B's. It isn't too much work. I would definitly reccomend taking this class or any class with him.

great professor, got an A in the class. I was in his class as a freshman when it was his first time teaching so he was a little bumpy starting out, but by previous reviews I'll assume he has gotten better. Great guy.

Definitely one of my favorite profs I've had thus far at UF. I really liked his movie assignments for this class. Tests can be a little tricky, but he's cool w/ curving. I pulled off a high A w/out too much trouble.
