I am a history major, and went into this class thinking I was going to love it... WRONG. It is boring... and long. I struggeled on the first test (which was on 9 chapters) and went to him for advice, he helped me.. then for the second test I DID WORSE! He is nice guy though.

I think he's a good professor. His lectures are slightly boring, but when you have 30 people in a class it's difficult to have a discussion. Some of the books are tough and there's often more than one for a course. If you read and study the tests are fair. As an adviser, I find him to be very helpful. He's provided a lot of opportunities to excel.

Best teacher I've ever had at Marywood. Tests are tough, but most of the stuff is common sense, so read the text for the details and you'll be all set. A very dry sense of humor, I really enjoyed his class.

In the beginning of the year it was bareable, but after two very hard tests and material with no real value, this class is terrible. Tests are very hard... average class grades are high C's, low B's. I study hard and I'm not doing well in this class. Tests have multiple choice and like 4 essays.

Not as stiff as you might percieve for a Professor of Sociology. Give him a chance, he is pretty casual if you interact with him, in class or out. Must know your stuff for test though, and likes class participation. Half a$$ed study strategies do work in this class. Would take again.

Prof Broughton rocks - I was a Sociology minor and had him for all my soc classes. You know exactly what to expect from him and he cares about his students. If you are good to Broughton (i.e. be prepared for class and do your assignments), he'll be good to you. Anyone who has a problem with him is a slacker!

Wasn't easy but wasn't too tough, either. Nice guy outside of class but really needs to loosen up, though. One class he spent the entire time asking questions about the history of Scranton and was getting annoyed when we didn't know the answers. I, like others, weren't even from there but he said that was no excuse, that we should learn the history of any city we live in. Sorry, I have better things to do.
