Professor Gullen teaches a very boring class. He basically reads to you all the time and is very old. You have to rent about 6 books from the bookstore. He gives 3 essays and 1 book review on his own book. Class was pretty easy, but makes you want to fall asleep. He takes attendance every class.

Professor Gullen is a very easy grader. He is very laid back and is easily approachable. attendance is mandatory but he is understanding if you can't make it.I'm not the best writer and I received an A. class can get boring from all the reading. Shows a few movies. 3 papers, 1 book review. Overall I would recommend if you want an easy class.

Professor Gullen is very laid back & approachable. There wasn't a lot of work (my class had 3 essays & a book review). However, his class can be pretty boring. The class wasn't engaging & most of the time he just read from books. You don't learn much in class, so if you want to learn & improve your skills, take this class with someone else.

GULLEN IS THE MAN! Probably the best professor you'd ever have at Hofstra. Don't hesitate taking him at night he usually lets you out early once all your work is done! The class is merely 3 papers and 1 book review! Doesn't make things complicated at all. WOULD LOVE TO TAKE HIM AGAIN!!! No complaints.

Professor Gullen is an absolute sweetheart. He's a wonderful person & an even greater professor. I loved his class & it was pretty much an easy A! I don't think I'll ever have a professor as great as him. Also, don't bother buying most of the books cause you can find them as pdf's online. Take his class! You won't regret it :)

Professor Gullen is the sweetest old man ever! I will miss him next year and his easy class. Although the class is super easy and we watch movies, you can tell that the professor is super knowledgable and he makes class enjoyable. He lets us leave early most of the time!!

Great guy! He's an old laid back man that's extremely understanding and nonchalant. 3 essays of which can all be handed on the last day of class, a writing proficiency and a good grade if everything is done well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!

Awesome, awesome guy. SO easy, literally did basically none of the readings. He gives you papers to write on but gives you til the end of the term to hand them in (literally up until the day of the final) and papers I would bang out in 15 minutes got A's. Just use a lot of superfluous vocabulary.

Best Teacher at Hofstra!!Incredibly helpful! I forgot to hand in three papers by the end of the semester and he called me and said i could hand in two and will disregard the other without penalty! GREAT GUY.

BEST TEACHER AT HOFSTRA!! I'M a business student and i HATE english and always have but this was one class i actually enjoyed. Dont be turned away if its offered at night with him he always cut the class short, watched movies, read to us, and was very lax on turning stuff in. As long as its in before the last class he takes it. Take him!!!!

He enjoys what he teaches and cares about the class. The books were good for the most part, and he shows movies a lot, but they're always relevant. He also discusses the material very in depth. He had a pretty laid back attitude and doesn't care about late papers, he just wants you to do the assignment and do the best job you can.

Really nice man, but let class get away with too much. Only a few did the reading, so there was little discussion which made class boring. We watched alot of movies. Do yourself a favor and read the stories. The selections are really good and you won't feel like you're wasting your time in class. Midterm, final, and one 4 page paper.

omg!!!!! i absolutely LOVE this guy!!!!! class was interesting but still so easy. If u are capable of writing a coherent paper, u can get a good grade. very knowledgeable about history of novels, if ur interested in things like that. one of the best engl profs at hofstra. will take again if i get the chance.
