Really nice guy but sometimes not the best at teaching. He's passionate about math and wants you to do well in class but he doesn't explain things very well- unless you ask questions. You will need to put some to into his class after hours if you want to receive a good grade.

Dr. Heilman is an EXCELLENT teacher who is very enthusiastic about math. It really rubs off: get to know him if you can during office hours! He helped me to see the beauty of mathematical proof & taught many great methods. Exam questions aren't always clear, but he is very willing to answer questions. Work hard, PRACTICE proofs, and you'll succeed.

I'm a new transfer, & haven't had a bad math professor here yet (I've had 5 so far). Ward's the man though. You can tell how much he loves math when he lectures, & his packets are easy to follow & not dry like some math books can be. I hated proofs in high school, but he makes them fun! I'll definitely take more classes with him. He's so helpful.

By far my favorite professor here! He genuinely cares about his students and wants you to understand the material. This isn't an easy A class but he does everything in his power to help you understand! He makes up his own packets which is written with a lot of explanations and examples! Extremely helpful both in and out of class! Would take again!

Dr. Heilman is a great professor who really cares about what he does. He is there for you during office hours for extra help. You have to put in the effort and work hard for this class - make sure you study, read the packets he gives out, and do the practice problems. He is a fair grader and will give credit for trying. I would take him again!

He is such a sweet guy! The only thing that I wished that he would do was to give the answers to the problems that he puts in his packets! I try to do the proof, but I NEED to know what the answer is and how to do the work so that I can figure out what I am not understanding! He also goes a little too fast for me. Overall really sweet guy!

Intro to Advanced Math- Proofs, proofs and more proofs not an intro to advance math this is a proofs class you will be writing proofs from the start of the course to the end - Professor H is a reasonable guy but if he wants to be teaching an advanced proofs class that's what it should be. Great professor, very enthusiastic about what he teaches. Smart man too. There's no textbook, he gives you packets that he's written to follow along in. Attendance isn't mandatory but I'd recommend going to every class. Grade is based on 6 out of 8 quizzes and 4 tests. He's the perfect teacher for this class.

Easily the best prof at BSC. His main concern is that you understand the material.. he'll give you an A if he sees that you're making progress. Smart, funny, and extremely cheerful. This guy just loves teaching, and he LOVES math.

He is a great teacher. He has an aura about him that says I love my job. And he teaches very well. If someone did not understand something he would always take the time to clear up what you don't understand. I would definitely suggest him for any math related class.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. I can't say enough about him. He's energetic, hilarious, and he knows the material like the back of his hand. He puts it in terms we can understand - kind of a rarity these days. Tests aren't simple, but he prepares you for them. Definitely check out one of his classes. You'll end up taking many more.
