This guy was fantastic. Simple class to get a good grade as others have said. While some may say his lectures were boring, he was to the point and did a wonderfully job of conveying his own twist on US History. Enjoyable and easy, what else can you ask for!

Easiest professor. Must go to class, but I always slept through it. The rest of the grade is the exam which is only based on the book...so easy to get an A

Wonderful professor. You talk about laid back! He takes the cake. Very dry sense of humor, with twinkle in eye. A different take on History of Ohio than ppl expect. Coordinated a very large class with professional expertise. Assigned historic site visits with an ease of "been there, done that" of knowing all the nooks and crannies in Ohio.

Easy easy easy! Class attendence is mandatory and it counts as participation...all information on the exams is given to you prior to the exam...exams consist of matching and 2 short answers

Easiest class ever. If you need to take the history series, take him. He gives you a list of terms and questions that are on the midterm and final beforehand and makes it really simple. You have to attend all the lectures though because he has an open book quiz (its only one question) each class.

Very helpful. Class was quite dull but that was most likely due to the nature of the class and not Van Tine's style. He let out class very early despite that it was an hour and 45 minute course. Only grades are several papers but he is very lenient on giving grades as long as you try and if you show interest.

When students asked questions he made fun of them and was not helpful in the answers. Quizes given everyday, and are a part of the grade. Did not want students to email him or come to office hours for help. Would not recommend.

easiest history teacher ever. gives you a studyguide for final and midterm that are the exact same as the actual test. can sleep through class after he gives the daily quiz question. watch lots of movies. you write 1 paper graded by a TA but its not graded that hard. highly recommend this professor.

If you can't get an A in this class, you're an idiot. The two exams come straight from the study guide he gives you. There are daily 1 question quizzes in class that you can work on as a group. One 4-page paper. You can actually learn something from him too if you listen during class. Very helpful and friendly as well.

Class is easy, attendence is a big part of the grade so go even if you sleep just get credit for being there, gives out study guides which detail everything on the test half is matching other half is essay, old school teacher uses a powerpoint then shows a video detailing exactly what he jsut went over

Like it was said before, likable but boring. I fought to stay awake most days. The final isn't cumulative!! Both the midterm and the final come with simple study guides with everything you could possibly need to know on them, so don't bother reading the book until then. He understands that few people start working on the paper until right before.

likable guy but class is boring as hell. shows a lot of videos. 25% of the grade was attendance so its mandatory i guess. 25% midterm and 25 final. other 25 was a paper that the TA's grade. exams were easy because he gives you the perfect review sheet.

Great class. Encouraged students to think for themselves and do their own historical research, rather then spoon-feeding it to us. The laid-back style is deceptive, you really do learn a lot in this course.

One of the nicest teachers you will meet. He makes history come alive and lets you out at least 30 mins early for every class. He tells you exactly whats on the midterm and final and if you can't get an A then you should transfer to another school. However, the TA's grade your midterm and final so it might be the luck of the draw if your TA is easy

I hated history in high school but absolutely loved his class. He tells things like he experienced it first-hand ... it felt more like I was going to listen to stories around a campfire than a boring history class. Beware: TAs grade the essays. Become friendly with them and go to their office hours.

I hate history, but this class was not bad at all. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. You know he's a good professor when you can't get into the next level that he is teaching. His exams are plain and simple if you do the outline. Quizzes are easy too. Great Class!!! =)
