Comment:

Despite how monotone and uneventful this professor is, he thinks he is SOOOOO funny, and yes, if you don't laugh at his abysmal jokes he will not like you. Also for someone as boring as he is, he excepts your speeches to be PERFECT. Also worth noting that the topic of your persuasive essay has to be something he agrees with (so not a true essay)

The title of this class is literally, "Introduction to Public Speaking". Notice that word "introduction"--implying we are new and here to learn basic concepts. To Wedge Crouch, the word "introduction" means that he assumes we are on an Ivy League debate team.

Tough grade, you have a lot of homework that just adds up to one grade. Crouch doesn't do a good job explaining why he takes points off of assignments, you have two weeks to prepare for your speeches but it doesn't matter because he will give outlandish grades regardless. Very monotone himself and not funny. Did I mention he's a tough grader???

Ughhh.... What to say about Crouch... Don't take him unless you have to would be my first response. Not a fair grader, dull speaker (monotone with no cadence to his voice), and has a weird set of principles. Good luck getting anything higher than a B.

Dr. Crouch is a great professor! He isn't bad how everyone is making him seem. He wants to see everyone pass and is most definitely willing to help if you need it. He isn't going to allow you to slack off or brush this class off your shoulder... At the end of the day that's not why we're here. I encourage everyone to take this class w/him.

I found Doctor Crouch to be a good professor, all the grades I got I feel like I deserved. He does offer a lot of extra credit. Quizzes were all write out answers, but all the answers were found directly in the notes, so if you study the notes you will do fine! The only test were the midterm and the final.

He is kind of a tough grader. A whole lot of speeches. Once you give one speech you have two weeks or so until you have to give another one. I didn't use my giant expensive textbook at all so don't waste your money.

Extremely hard grader. Works with students but is not clear in his explanations. Everything must be perfect just to get a B. No one in my class of 25 has an A . Is not funny and thinks he is. If you don't suck up and laugh when he makes a joke, he will not like you. Taking this class especially at 8 a.m. was the worst decision I've made in college.

This class was hard and should not have been. Mr. Crouch is a hard grader and expects a lot from his students. His quizzes are impossible so when he warns you that there will be one make sure and study. Do not skip class because he HATES that. He will look over your work before your turn it in. Show initiative and he will respect you.

Dr. Crouch was a pretty good professor. He does grade quite strict for a beginning level course and he thinks that everyone should be professional public speakers. The classroom environment was very laid back and I found him to be very understanding. But only take him if you really like public speaking and you are good at it.

Crouch is the worst professor I've ever had. He was extremely monotone. Thinks he's funny, definitely not funny whatsoever. I highly suggest finding anyone else to teach you this class. Best of luck.

Dr. Crouch was a horrible professor for public speaking. He does not give A's. He grades your speeches as if you were supposed to be a highly trained public speaker. His lectures are dull and do not prepare you for the midterm or final whatsoever. He ruined my 4.0 GPA.

I would rather die than take Crouch again. He thinks he is funny - he's not. He thinks he is helping you become a better speaker - he's not. I quit trying in the class and my grades actually went up. Have to retake COM now to keep my GPA to maintain my scholarship. If you are reading this it isn't too late! It doesn't get better! Drop him!

This professor is the harshest grader for no reason. He expects everyone to be perfect speakers and if you're not you get a bad grade. He takes this class way too seriously for a Gen Ed. You'd be better off with anyone but this teacher. He is monotone, laughs at his own jokes, and is extremely harsh and boring. I wish I was Exaggerating.

We only had to do 4 speeches, but he is a strict grader. You HAVE to practice your speeches if you want to do well. Quizzes aren't too hard if you study. You can't really read his hand writing, but he will interpret it for you if you ask. He is a nice guy and willing to help, but I didn't especially enjoy the class. Lectures are kind of boring

I checked this guy out on here before I took him, and I thought everyone must have been exaggerating. Take it from me: they are not. He grades you as if he expects you to be fresh out of your high school debate team. As a person who suffers from panic attacks and social anxiety, this is awful. Please, PLEASE take COM from a different professor.

This teacher is NOT recommended. He expects you to be perfect in giving a speech when he is not good at speaking himself. He is unclear and boring. He expects too much and asks us to do way more than other teachers for the same class. Try to get a different teacher!! He doesn't give A's.

I would have enjoyed this class a lot more going in if I had known he doesn't give A's. He lets you know about assignments weeks ahead of time, but man... A very conservative grader for sure. The quiz questions come from part lecture and part book. Unless you are an incredibly gifted and natural public speaker I wouldn't recommend this class.

Horribly strict teacher, yet he's a horrible speaker. very monotone, tries to crack jokes but he's not funny. Literally put me to sleep multiple times. Horrible handwriting and his feedback on your grade never makes sense. I would NOT recommend this teacher under any circumstances.
