Comment:
Professor Sunderland was my favorite professor this semester. I had never paid attention to Russian history but he helped spark my passion! His lectures are interesting, and the books really help to fully understand the course material. If you ever need him, he is always there. Made me a better writer and even helped me with other classes!

Prof. Sunderland likes to get into his lectures, but in doing so he rambles and rambles along. He also leaves a lot of the explaining assignments and things up to the TAs. Which would be fine except the TA for my class is one of the worst TAs I have ever had. She is not a fair grader, insults students, and is not a nice person.

Great professor. He makes the material interesting. Lots of work though: multiple essays. He grades the essays rather harshly. Did not really need the "textbook" though as he covered all the important things in class. I would definitely suggest going to class every day

Great teacher. He is excited about the material and makes it interesting. There is a lot of work, but it's all worth it. Highly recommended.

It's great to such an enthusiastic teacher but he seems to think we ALL should devote ALL our time to his Many reading/writing assignments. He is SO disorganized which I typically forgive but in history it doesn't serve (at least me) to have class on one era while doing readings about HUNDREDS of years later.Sadly, I wish I hadn't taken this class

WLD HIS II, kept class interesting, class work not to bad for 100 level class. Mid-Term and Final challenging but not difficult if properly prepared.

Does this man think we have nothing better to do? He requires 25 pages in essays over 10 weeks that simply too much for this level course. His grading scale is terrible and you stand a very slim chance of passing his course.

Ok his class ws challenging, a couple papers to write, but it wasnt hard. I managed to get low A's, high B's. You need to go to class to get the material for the exam, but other than that its not too bad. He was a bit disorganized, but who isnt? Good class

His class is impossible, lots of papers and reading. You have to do the reading for the exams. It is very hard to get a good grade on anything in this class, my advice is stay away from taking it.

Tough grader. Lots of assignments. He lectures like he is some wannabe poet. Not organized. Don't take his class. I felt like I should have been getting more than 3 credit hours. Not worth it.

He's long-winded and tends to run class late. He's overly pedantic when it comes to some things, yet he throws points at the class in other ways. He makes an attempt to spice up the material. Overall a decent teacher.

I loathe going to his class, but not because of him. He makes a strong effort to present the material in an interesting way, but most of the students have already killed so many of their brain cells that they shouldn't bother showing up to class. They're just dead weight.

Willard Sunderland is a great professor. Slightly disorganized, but who isn't, and not enough to be harmful to class. The main thing is that he makes the content of the class approachable, and inspires great interest in the subject.
