This is the best teacher I have had while at UW. He is great. He will also talk with you about whatever regardless of if it is related to his class.

Downs is such a good professor. The people who say he is full of himself or that he just brags have clearly never even gone to class. Almost every one of his stories is about how he messed up ( in a funny way). To the people saying he's just bashing Christians, well the entire class is about challenging your perspective and thinking for yourself.

Professor Downs was hands down (see what I did there) one of the best professors at UW. To be honest he's pretty disorganized and sometimes forgets what he is talking about, but he is the funniest man alive and has so many awesome stories. His class is also pretty easy. Take William!

Bill is an interesting guy, but he makes things enjoyable. He tries to push boundaries, which is nice. He really tries to make theatre more accessible to all people. He's just a fun guy to be around.

Probably the best professor I've had so far. Funny and very knowledgeable which makes the lectures very interesting. If you're easily offended, this is not the class for you. But he's probably the best of the lot, take it and have a fun learning experience.

He was pretty funny sometimes and his lectures were sometimes entertaining. He could be cool at some times and at other times it seemed like all he gave out were his opinions and not actual facts related to the course. And he'd go on tangents A LOT. It's a class that's really easy to pass, but I hated going to it. And his tests are horribly long.

Comment:

Downs is an interesting guy with points to prove. Theatre is tied in, but not the overall subject. Hard to know what is going to be on his tests. He rants a lot. He takes random attendance quizzes that are easy. There is extra credit. If you are easily offended don't take the class. If you use his info anywhere else, FACT CHECK! Unimpressed!!!

Easy Class. Attendance isn't mandatory. Sit in exam room with 200+ and everyone had the same exam. All multiple choices. Exam q's on textbook and lectures. Makes it clear from day 1 he has tenure and doesn't refrain from saying ANYTHING! Extra Credit available and easy!

I've never met anyone who talks so much about themselves; it's embarrassing really. Every time he lectures he says the same nonsense over and over, and has clearly not prepared at all. He spends most of his time talking about how "successful" he is. However, this class is taught with Tyler Fall, and he is one of the best professors on campus.

William Missouri Downs is one of the most open minded people I have met to this date. He DOES NOT bash Christians, simply provides the facts. (He is agnostic, his goal is not to disprove Christianity). Many Christians are offended by him because he challenges you to simply think about what has been passed down to you unquestioned.

One of the greatest teachers ever. He makes you actually think about the things he is teaching instead of just retaining it. Many insightful lectures. He made class fun and he really knows his stuff.
