Comment:
Professor McKeen is pretty old fashioned. I know a ton of people who skip all the time and still pass. Personally, I go to every class because I have the opportunity to fill out his clear-cut study guide for the upcoming exam. The downfall is that his grade is based off of only 3 exams and 1 project... So there's no wiggle room for a bad grade.

Very interesting class -- Mckeen provides a lot of fun, fascinating historical anecdotes. Tests were extremely easy, as long as you studied the people we discussed in class.

He is a great speaker but from his slides, it's hard to tell which part of the lecture is important. Plus he doesn't post them online so you have to pay attention in class. All the tests were multiple choice questions (out of 30) so it was simple but the questions are a bit tricky. He sometimes asked about really insignficant details.

Honestly, I really cannot comprehend why this class is a requirement. He flies through the power points like there is no tomorrow, and you can barely keep up with writing notes. I really didn't learn much, and for an introductory course to journalism, i kind of expected more. Nonetheless, the class is once a week so be sure to go and take notes.

McKeen is nuts. This class was terrible and should definitely not be a requirement for the Journalism major. I considered this class a complete waste of time. You learn nothing. Aside from that, McKeen shushes the class like it's full of third graders. He's also bipolar and will randomly shout. But if you need an easy one credit class, take it.

Amazing class. Go to lectures. Every one. McKeen's insight and knowledge is phenomenal and if you love this topic you'll regret missing the class. Just read the readings and got to lectures, study your notes and you'll get a n A with no problem.

I took this class as a non-major and thought it was sort of a joke. The tests had some silly questions, all from lecture. Remember to read Rick Bragg's book, but no need to go into too much detail. McKeen was sometimes annoying, but the class was decent enough I guess. Easy.

The class is easy, helpful and interesting. You learn about what journalism is and hear presentations from professionals in different realms of journalism. Two multiple choice tests and one paper. Attendance not mandatory, but important- lecture based tests. Good class, but McKeen is kind of annoying and not very helpful. Still, I recommend it.

The class is easy if you go to it, but McKeen is a jerk. He thinks he's a genius and master of the English language. Never smiles unless he's making fun of something. The paper is easy--I didn't even read the book I wrote about and got an 88. Most people who take this class are required to take it, but if you aren't, I guess it's an alright filler

I really enjoy McKeen's classes. Rock'n'Roll and American society was no different. He only uses Power Point, so take good notes and read the pages he assigns in the book. Lecture is fun and interesting if you like music. Grade based on 3 tests, it's an easy B, takes just a little more work for an A.

The class itself was easy. Show up. Pay a little attention. Jot down a few notes and you should get an A. Professor McKeen on the other hand, wasn't the nicest teacher I've ever met. If I had a question I opted to ask classmates rather than him...

Easy professor. Loves multiple choice and thinks he's God of the Powerpoint. Huge ego, but hilarious, smart, knows his stuff and loves to teach. Definitely take him. Unless you like Neil Diamond. Then, don't.

It was as easy as it appears. Lots of people in the class, thought that it was hard, but if you attended class and pay any attention, then you should do fine. This was an intro class, aimed at introducing people to the field. Real fun.

His teaching style seems sporadic. Did not think he taught to the tests. But after the first test did relatively well, knowing what to expect. A cocky man for sure. Kind of an ass. At times intimidating. Did not help me when I wanted to see my first test. Otherwise interesting.

Class is not as easy as it seems, you must attend class once a week in order to pass tests. Tests are short but sometimes questions are extremely confusing, wouldn't recommend it if it isn't required.

Make sure you go to every class, lecture notes are everything. He did a wonderful job teaching the subject and knew everything imaginable about R&R. The only thing I did not like is that he asks 3 or 4 very obscure questions on the book readings which threw a lot of people off. Overall, a really nice and knowledgable guy, I just wish he had thrown
