I took his class a few years back and I loved it. I got an A in the class. He is soft spoken and can mumble so he can be hard to understand but there is no doubt that he knows the material. As long as your arguments are sound for the papers you should be fine.

Comment:

Professor Rumsey is a nice guy, but I don't think I would take one of his classes again. He is very soft spoken which makes the class boring because you can't hear anything. He often goes on tangents. He said that attendance was mandatory, but it wasn't. Most of the time he was late and continued lecturing after our time was up.

He is very knowledgeable on the subject, but very soft spoken and goes off on tangents. It's very hard to pay attention if you're not very familiar with philosophy. My grade was dependent upon three papers and a final.

I thought Intro to Ethics would be a really fun class, however it's not. Rumsey is a very nice guy and knows what he's talking about but, he goes off on tangents, mumbles, over explains, tells pointless stories, and is never clear on papers. He's not clear on what he expects on papers. If you must take this class make sure it's a different prof.

Very nice guy. Class is a bore. Attendance is not mandatory. I dont recommend taking him but if so just ask as many questions as you can about the 2 papers and the exam and he will basically answer it all for you.

I'm sure in his hayday he knew his subject but present day he is lost. He rambles on about nothing. You cannot hear him or understand him. If his name shows up on your schedule drop him like yesterday's news.

He is such a sweet guy. He really does try hard to explain the subjects but it doesn't work. He rambles about stuff that really doesn't have much to do with the topic at hand. There are only 3 grades, and he doesn't really explain what he expects with the papers. He is very laid back with due dates and going to class. Enter with caution!!!!

He is a bright person but he gets off on tangents most of the time. We only covered about 2/3 of what we were supposed to in this class. First problem though is that you only have three grades, two papers and the final. It is very easy to get a B in the class, but almost impossible to get an A. Only one person out of 20+ got an A on a paper.

He class is the most boring class I've ever had. If you do not like philosophy or have no prior knowledge I would advise not taking his class. He only gives three grades the entire semester: 2 papers and a final exam. Your grade is a mystery because the final and 2nd paper will both be turned in on the last day of class. Pointless class!

this man radiates of nicotine. avoid his breath. he is soooo old and boring . He knows what he is talking about and tries really hard. the class isn't too bad but it's just sooooo boring!!! If you need the class take it but if it's not a necessity don't it's a waste of time.

The most boring man ever. Really, he never left the 60's. Not helpful at all. If you ask a question, he'll either ramble on about something else, or just tell you you're plain wrong. There's no point going to class, he just repeats himself. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
