Dr. Self is an amazing man. He takes such pride in his lectures and the students he is teaching. His test really do test you on what you've learned, but he scales and offers great opportunities for extra credit. He is a good man who just happens to be a great teacher and one of the best at UAB. His door was always open to us and he's very smart.

Dr. Self is great. He is extremely helpful. The test are not easy, but don't be discouraged because he scales and gives bonus oppurtunities. Very approachable. Loves what he teaches and loves students. If you don't pass its your own fault.

Dr Self is SUPER NICE. If you show a little effort & try a little you are guaranteed a good grade. Even if there is an assignment you do poorly on, he will give you an opportunity to do extra credit to soften the blow. I would take him over & over again.

Dr. Self is an amazing teacher. He also went out of his way in order to help me graduate before I thought I would. I never thought I'd have a teacher who cared so much about their students. He actually went out of his way to do something great for me and I sincerely appreciate it.

Dr. Self is a very nice guy and takes his work pretty seriously. He likes to get things done in class, but he's never one to shy away from a side-discussion if a student brings up an issue worth discussing. His exams can be difficult and can come across as 'tricky', but they're usually not KILLER exams. You miss a lot if you skip class...trust me.
