Shear is awesome. Gives a bunch of questions for a study guide, then the exam comes right from those questions. Not an easy A, but you can definitely get an A if you do the work.

Very nice man, very fair and direct as both a teacher and a man. I struggled mightily on the final exam, and thus my course grade suffered, but that was entirely my fault. I have tons of respect for him, and I had him 11 years ago, and do not work anywhere near the field of biology today.

Shear is the man. He gives you the questions up front for the tests, all you have to do is do the work on the study guide. Buying the book was pointless, if you just write down everything he says/writes. Daily quizes were a piece of cake and I got an A on every exam//test.

I found him to be pretty tough, but I went to him a lot for extra help and got a B when I should have had a C or D. The lab was hard as hell, but he graded easy.

This course is a star ball buster of the H-SC Bio lineup. Shear's a mean mofo. Skipping is looked down upon. If I recall correctly, there were only two exams and an insect collection contributing to the final grade. I had the best collection in class, 800+, failed to meet diversity requirements, and pulled a C for the semester. Slackers beware!
