Doc is a great guy. He will make time whenever he can if you ask him to. He also does whatever he can for the SOTA--he took on extra ensembles last year during a transition period. In addition, he is a super caring guy--whenever I thought I wasn't doing well enough, he would always give me a great motivational talk and try to help me.

Doctor Stowman is by far one of my favorite professors on campus. He is funny, smart, and so talented. He cares so much about students and faculty. He cares so much that last semester he took an overload on teaching. I had him for many classes and even though he was busy he found the time to make us all better musicians and people. Thank you Doc!

I had him for a PMEA Region Band Festival. He was an excellent conductor and musician, and really knew how to spark interest in the students. However, he does tend to play favorites. Througout the festival, the only people he seemed to be comfortable having 1 on 1 conversations with were the principal players.

Dr. Stowman was my absolute favorite music professor. I had him as a guest conductor for a PMEA Regional Band Festival, and though he tends pick students out and call them out infront of the ensemble, it makes all of the members better by seeing the mistake. Doc is an amazing prof and I highly recommend him! He really cares about his students!

Best trumpet teacher, big brother, and father figure. Has helped me so much my time here at Messiah. What a wonderful guy -- hilarious, and helpful! And sincerely caring! Prayed with me when I had family issues and college issues. Who doesn't love Doc?!

Dr. Stowman is the man. He cares for each of his students and wants them to be the best musician and person they can be. Those who think otherwise of him just don't know how to take him. The choral people mainly seem to have problems with him (so you can just take that with a grain of salt). You cant ask for anyone better than Dr. Stowman!

Dr. Stowman is one of the best professors out there. I can't understand why he's getting so many bad ratings. He's a great musician, and could also be a stand-up comedian if he wanted. Always has positive feedback and suggestions to make the music sound better, and 100% of the time, he's right on. Maybe some just aren't worth his teaching.

Is not exactly the most personable person on the face of the planet, and is quick to find things to pick apart simply to pick them apart. Can be a jerk a lot of the time, and he sometimes just expects you to do things for him or for the department because he thinks you should. Really cocky, puts on a show for people. Not high on my list.

Plays favorites to an extreme. Only his female students or the female students of his buddies, the "triumverate" (Wilt, Genevro), get the good work- study jobs. If you grovel at his feet and worhip the ground he walks on, you'll get along with him. His only concern is: "how will this make me look to the President?" A master manipulator.
