Tapply looks exactly like the cowardly lion, but he's simply a sweet man who attempts to instill a positive sense of self in young writers. While his comments are not always helpful to students' learning, he makes a marked effort to encourage and allow his students some wiggle room they might not find in a typical creative writing class.

Professor Tapply was great! His was by far my favorite class. He is very intelligent, often sarcastic and a lot of fun. He critiques writing well and can be harsh but it is helpful. He seems to be a very nice person. Definitely take his classes.

I have taken two classes with Tapply and all I can say is that he is the love of my life. He is sooo funny...tho most students in my classes missed his humor, but he is great. His class is kind of boring at times but its worth it. He is a great teacher and really improved my writing. You can also buy one of his books at price chopper.

Professor Tapply is a really great teacher who knows alot about writing. He treats his students with respect and is really like a big teddy bearish grandfather. He really cares which is something you don't see alot of. In addition his assignmentss are very clear and you know exactly what he wants when writing papers.

A fair grader whose teaching actually help in improving writing. He often ends class early and, other than essays, assigns no homework. He works part time, but does not mind if you call him at home. Professor Tapply is a very good professor.

The only real problem with Tapply is that he writes commercial mystery novels and is somewhat skeptical of students that don't want to write commercial mystery novels. But he's a very good creative writing teacher nonetheless.
