Dr. Downie is clearly intelligent and experienced in her field, and she is willing to help you with any questions you may have. However her class is so boring that I had difficulty staying awake most days. Almost no notes will be taken in class, but pay attention to the little things she says or you will be lost on how to do assignments.

I was so excited to take this class but it was so boring. Downie spends an hour and 15 minutes talking about her personal opinions on current events. She cuts people off and really only wants to hear herself talk. This is a horrible class if you care about learning about the government because it is all over the place, but you will get an easy A

Winsome Downie is exceptionally willing to help her students and is extremely passionate about what she is teaching. With that being said however, unless you have a knack for history, she is often way too all over the place with her lectures. Reading the assigned notes does help, but she does have a way of going over your head during class. et

So boring, class drags on, notes were rarely taken. She talks the whole class and then gives a midterm on a book you had to read outside of class. She's nice but the class isn't exciting unless you like to stare at the floor. Not a hard class overall

I took her U.S. Congress class in the Fall of 1987 when Reagan's nomination of Robert Bork to the Supreme Court was being shamefully destroyed by Teddy Kennedy and the Democrats. Our discussions were so relevant, and heated! I was the lone conservative, and she definitely wasn't on my side. But she was fair and recognized the merit of my arguments.

Although she's soooo smart and knows everything there is to know about the government and political science, her class is soooo boring I can't help but to be on my phone the entire time.
