work load is not terrible, but he does not give 10/10 ever, and when asked how to improve he just says 9/10 is the same as 10/10. does not want to accept alternative interpretations of a text, wants you to figure out what he thinks and write about that only.

His ENG 102 class is very hard you're expected to write several analytical essays and a research paper. He won't explain or teach you how to do it. He just tells you that he needs the assignments done. PLEASE avoid taking his class, you're not going to have a good time and you won't learn much. Horrible teacher :(

Li provided questions for each assignment that will guide you understand the story in deeper level than the context itself. Work load is not too bad, just needs to put in the time to read and analyze the story, write and revise, you will do well. One final exam, 3 essays plus the final research essay, and bonus papers to help bump up your grade.

Li is very passionate about English literature, however with his accent it can be hard to sit through his lectures. If your analytical essays match his personal opinions (which he tells you during the lecture) you WILL pass. His feedback on essays is not very good, and he is not very clear in explaining his expectations. I winged it most of the time

Li talks forever during his classes and it was never really helpful. I took the summer class & we did a total of 4 papers & nothing else. I learned nothing from his course and now feel extremely lost in Eng102. Don't take him if you want to learn/prep yourself for 102. He's a sweet guy but w/ his accent, it was not easy to discuss the papers.

Comment:
Being in Li's English 101 is confusing. I can not understand most of what he is saying due to his heavy accent. There were times that I wanted to enter a new English 101, but I couldn't. And there were times he embarrassed me because of my writing being not as good as everyone's. I was that way all the time. However, he is very insightful.

Professor Li is the most unhelpful professor I have ever had. He has very specific perceptions of stories and if your perception does not align with his you will get failing grades. To top it off he will not give you any specific feedback on how to correct your writing. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!!!!!

A very passionate teacher when he is talking about stories. Assigns short stories to read each week and for half the semester, he gives quizzes on the stories you have read the week before. 2 papers that are 2-3pgs. Participation plays a big part and if he knows you try in the class he is willing to raise your grade. Recommend taking!

Awesome teacher, best teacher ever. Passionate, that even makes you be passionate about reading the short stories. It feels as if the short stories come to live. At the beginning of the course had little difficulty understanding his accent, but it gets easier. I will highly recommend this excellent teacher.

Easy A because of all the assignments given out. No tests, only ten 1-2 pg papers due (1 per week) which summarizes the short stories you read (By short stories, I mean 1-3 page stories on 8x11 paper - not tough). Accent can get in the way at times but it's not too terrible. He is incredibly passionate about American Literature. I do recommend!!!

I would not recommend this professor to no one because his feedback was unpleasant. On my 2nd assignment, I was so upset, and he put me down bad from his feedback to that assignment. And that's when I realized he is rude and opinionated professor. So, I knew I'm unable to continue this course with him because I feel uncomfortable and aggravated.

I took the online, 8 week course knowing it would be more difficult. The teacher was not very helpful and did not provide feedback to help me fix what I was doing wrong. If you do not share the same view on the stories as him, you will get points off. I do not recommend taking his class.

I took the online class. Loved the fact that he does not give you insane amounts of homework. Although short, some of the stories are hard to interpret. It helps if you search Harper Library online for a short summary. If you understand the stories, it's easy to pass.

Mr. Li is such a nice guy, he tells great stories and is very helpful. I took him over the summer and the class went very quick. I would recommend him for a summer course, just do the reading because he gives quizzes.
